Canadian singer-songwriter littleuniverses has composed her EP titled Corners, an eclectic and complex project inspired by ideas of isolation, amplified by lockdown in 2020.
Whilst under quarantine in her apartment’s home studio in early March, the artist began to document her ever-changing and evolving emotional states as the days went by. These documentations soon became the four track EP, Corners, reflective of the four walls she was confined within when the project commenced.
The EP consists of atmospheric and ethereal harmonies, juxtaposed with dark and angsty lyricism. The tracks “Getting By”, “Isolation”, “Broken Dreams”, and “Before it Begins” are each musically unique, and represent and reflect a different persona that the artist embodied during the creation process. These personas are also depicted on the cover of the EP, with the artist visually conveying each state of mind.
“Broken Dreams“ stands out as the pinnacle of the EP. With captivating and celestial vocals, accompanied by hypnotic and echoey instrumentation, the song takes the listener on a harmonious auditory journey of littleuniverses‘ emotions.
