Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, Geez Louise are a four-piece indie pop outfit who have been making waves around the world with their own brand of music. Formed by lead vocalist Sierra Torres and lead guitarist Nick Jude back in 2019, the line up was later completed with the additions on drummer Tyelen Gibbs and Eli Slaughter on bass.
Influenced by the likes of DIIV, Alvvays, Lucy Dacus, Claud, Momma, Slow Pulp, Wilco and Stella Donnelly, Geez Louise offer a dreamy indie rock sound full of guitar and synth work and capped off by Sierra’s smooth and captivating vocal delivery. Since the release of their debut single “Solipsism” last year, they’ve played shows at Exit/In in their home city as well as Tidballs In Bowling Green, Kentucky, they’ve also had two of their original tracks played on the Nashville-based station Lighting 100.
With their further studio releases, they’ve caught the attention of music fans in London, UK and have plans to perform in the city in the future. After dropping a string of singles over the last year, they’ve put together their debut EP with the release of Candy Bruise.
Recorded between Savannah and Nashville, Geez Louise worked with producer Parker Forbes and engineer Brandon Kelly to bring their sonic vision to life on the EP. When Geez Louise were performing their songs one night at a dive bar, Parker Forbes happened to be in the crowd and was so impressed with what he saw and heard, he approached the band after the show and suggested they work together on an album of songs.
Showcasing the bands ability to flutter between different styles and genres while maintaining their own distinct sound, on Candy Bruise they deliver their upbeat sound, fused with angry or melancholic lyricism. Flowing between anthemic indie rock and more mellow dream pop styles, across their debut EP, Geez Louise offer a captivating taste from an exciting new band on the rise.
Commenting on the EP, lead singer Sierra Torres shares, “I am so grateful for the incredible and caring team we’ve been lucky enough to be able to surround ourselves with who made this project possible. Working on “Candy Bruise” has helped me vocalise so many things I had a difficult time trying to express in daily conversation and I can’t wait for everyone to hear!”
