Brooklyn-born Steven Keene began his music career in the early 90s when he started playing the folk clubs and cafes in Greenwich Village. Flitting across the stretes of McDougal and Bleecker, he played open mic nights, hootenanny’s and the small independent venues in the area as he cut his teeth and honed his skills and a performer.
His debut album, 1990’s Keene On Dylan saw the artist link up with Bob Dylan band members Howie Wyeth and Rob Stoner to offer a record of original compositions and covers. Five years later, signed to Moo Records, he dropped his sophomore album No Alternative distributed via BMG in Europe, once again working with talented Bob Dylan collaborators such as Tony Garnier, John Jackson and Bucky Baxter.
The legendary artist penned a protest song “How Much Blood’s In A Barrel” at the outbreak of war in the early 2000s. More recently, he shared two new full-length releases It Is What It Is and Them & Us in 2020 and is currently working on a new album titled Somewhere In Between set to drop this year.
Ahead of his upcoming new album, he brings us his latest single, with the song “Soon”. Once again showcasing his timeless Americana folk style, with “Soon”, Steven Keene lays down his beautiful songwriting delivered via his smooth vocals and enchanting melodic leads. Taking aim at corporate government interests and their tightening grasp on people around the world, his latest single hits out at a worrying trend wrapped up in a stunning singer-songwriter sound.
