Based in Birmingham in the UK, Martin Reynolds takes influence from the likes of The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Laura Marling, The Beach Boys and The Rolling Stones to create his own brand of timeless indie folk music. Serving as the drummer of the Tamworth-based grunge blues duo You Dirty Blue, the multi-instrumentalist has more recently ventured out as a solo artist to deliver his joyous sound.
When the world was forced into lockdown during the global pandemic, Martin used the time to work on his new creative vision. Borrowing a 24-track mixer, he set about recording the first material that would form his debut album. In October 2020 he made his introduction with his first single “Strange Days Indeed” followed by singles two and three in the build up to his critically acclaimed debut record Where There’s Hope in the summer of 2021.
Returning this year with the release of “I’ll crawl”, he now brings us his latest work with his new single titled “Everything’s Better”. Emerging from the isolation that saw him create his previous work alone, for his new track he was joined by other musicians.
Laying down his lead vocals and playing guitar, bass and drums on the single, he’s joined by Sheena Vultaggio on piano and backing vocals and Peter Voronov on violin and viola, crafting a dazzling 60s power pop style sound full of bright melodic leads and threaded with an uplifting sense of optimism.
With his buoyant indie folk anthem, he offers a dose of positivity and provides the soundtrack for the world recovering from the dark times of the last two years. Capturing an enduring sound, “Everything’s Better” is testament to his songwriting talent on a single that’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
