The Swedish-Sister-Sweethearts are back with an ethereal summer song, ‘My Silver Lining’ from their forthcoming album ‘Stay Gold’.
The track begins with an exotic and cinematic sweep of strings from keyboard player Johanna, before settling into the banjo-rhythm guitar plucking of Klara. The song immediately feels grander and with a greater production value than the band’s last album, The Lion’s Roar. The rich, textural sound drops in and out, giving way to the rhythmical verse that pulls you along at high speed.
The song’s lyrics focus on restlessness, regret, and a feeling of starting afresh, but it is the melodies that really engage here. Every inch of this song could be a great chorus for a lesser song. It is entirely sing-a-long; the lingering and oh-so-sweet high notes are followed by the punchy line, “try to keep on keeping on”. You’ll be whistling these gorgeous melodies all summer.
It’s a great choice for the first single and it’s getting FAK fans across the world all hot and bothered. If this is your first encounter with the girls, you’re in for a treat.
