With more than three decades spent exploring the world of electronic music, Australian producer, DJ and live performer Simon D walked a unique creative path paved by collaboration, experimentation and an enduring connection to the dancefloor. A founding member of Brisbane dance pioneers D-Ko, he later formed Bri & Si, a project that’s taken him to more than 130 shows around the world. Across hundreds of live performances, his journey has moved between underground electronic culture and some of Australia’s biggest stages, creating a musical output shaped by both studio talent and the unpredictability of live performance.
His career has brought international appearances in India, Thailand and Vietnam, alongside performances at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl and the Big Top at the Woodford Folk Festival. He’s also played alongside a range of artists, including Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction, The Crystal Method, The Propellerheads, Electric Six, John ’00’ Fleming, Simon Posford, Infected Mushroom and DJ Krush. As well as performing, Simon has recorded, produced, mastered and played on a wide array of releases, working across projects including Rabbits On Saturn, Robodop Snei and Sequential Zero.
Such vast experience has given him plenty of room to explore different approaches to electronic production but his creative ambitions have continued to expand. In 2024, he formed Home Hearing Records, an independent label providing a platform for a growing catalogue of electronic music and his recent releases have appeared through that imprint as well as Mullum Madness Records and Nextrax Digital.
More recently, his development has taken on a collaborative dimension through Simon D ft. Fliss, his live and recording partnership with longtime friend Felicity Moran. The relationship began with informal backyard music sessions, gradually blooming into a more substantial musical project in which Fliss contributes both on stage and in the studio, bringing a different musical voice to the production. Fliss also brings decades of experience as a conductor, multi-instrumentalist and educator, with a background including orchestral direction, composition and performance across several instruments.

Now, their new six-track EP titled All I Can Do captures their relationship across a varied collection of downtempo, psychedelic electro, groove, garage, dub techno and house. The instrumentation is central to the record’s character, with Fliss contributing flute to and saxophone to Simon’s electronic arrangements, allowing the tracks to move between atmospheric listening and more rhythm-driven areas. The EP also documents how their live partnership has begun to reshape the recorded material, with three tracks developing ideas that originally appeared on Simon’s 2025 EP Everyday is Someday. As Simon explains, “With some of the songs from the previous EP now being performed live, they have undergone some changes, especially with the inclusion of Fliss. I feel that the changes have been for the better and warrant these updated versions featuring on a new release.”
Opening with the title track “All I Can Do,” woozy key textures are met with the bright flicker of colourful synth tones before the track shifts with the downtempo pulse of muted percussion and alluring flute leads. Gliding with laid back groove, the track develops with tapped percussive elements, hovering vocalisations and skanked guitar chords, forming a breezy jam that’s psych-tinged and transportive from start to finish. “Birds” follows with shimmering textures as the swell of instrumentation takes the track into a moody soundscape that rolls with pattering drums and soft flute lines.
“The Tentacles of Ozric” sets the scene with seaside sounds as the bubble of stuttered synth notes and warm bass ushers in playful flute, progressing with rustling drums and bouncy rhythmic energy as spacey textures sweep across the arrangement. “Change” leads into a dark atmosphere of crisp percussion, hazy vocal elements and slick rhythmic switch ups, offering a dub-influenced voyage unlike any other.
“Dub in G Minor 2026” rumbles into view before shuffling beats and smokey sax leads combine to deliver an engrossing outing brimming with wubbing synths and rising energy. Closing the EP with “The 4th Dimension,” soft synth arpeggios swirl around spoken word vocals while the steady thump of kick builds up the energy to set up a dance-focused moment stacked with intricate instrumentation and wrapped in euphoric sonic fabric. With All I Can Do, Simon D and Fliss bring years of individual experience into a shared creative space, allowing friendship, live performance and electronic experimentation to shape a project that continues to take on exciting new shapes. .
