‘Tidings’ by A’Lune isn’t just exciting because it’s their debut, but it’s also the first release from the brand new Manchester based Record Label; Echolalia Records.
Echolalia Records, launched on 4th September 2014, is the product of two music lovers (Charlotte Davies and Phil Bowman) with a dream, who have gone out there and made that dream happen.
Echolalia describe A’Lune as a solo project, born from the frustration of waiting around trying to find people interested in forming a band. From where I’m sitting, I’m glad they didn’t wait around much longer because the instrumental EP is astonishing. If I worked in the film industry, I’d snap it up for a soundtrack, and I’d probably call the film ‘Reflection’, because that’s what this EP seems to instruct. That or ‘Stand still and take something beautiful in’.
When creating the continuous project that was impressively recorded in just one night, A’Lune was inspired by bands such as ‘Explosions In The Sky, Mogwai, and This Will Destroy’, which can be heard throughout the EP. Though the positive influence to go solo came from ‘Lowercase Noises’, with A’Lune using similar techniques to loop a chord progression and build layers over and over each track. One of my favourite things about the project being recorded in one night is the commitment to creating the right sound, which lead to A’Lune being locked in a room until the EP was finished and the right sound was sought.
The tracklisting is as follows:
1. Somewhere, 22:02
2. Interlude
3. An Ending of Sorts
4. Whirl (Bonus Track)
‘Tidings’ is available for digital download from Monday 22nd September 2014. Click here to pre-order the EP via the Echolalia Records Bandcamp page, and you’ll get the first track sent to you once you’ve placed your pre-order.

It’s refreshing to see that Charlotte and Phil’s ambition, passion and hard work has lead them to break through in to careers in the music business, with their very own Record Label, and I wish them every success.
I’m looking forward to more releases from both Echolalia Records and A’Lune, but until then, check out the A’Lune Facebook page, as well as the Echolalia Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr pages all listed below.
