Formed in 2013 and gracing the local Leeds music scene with their presence ever since, ‘Those Delta Wolves’ are set to release their second EP in March. The four piece band consists of vocalist and guitarist Jonny Von Grun, bassist Aaron Palenzuela, drummer Mark Scott, and lead guitarist Ben Parkinson. Their first EP ‘Fire Is Spreading’ released in 2014 really saw the band spread fire with their smooth bass lines, heavy drumming, gritty vocals and sharp lyrics.
Those Delta Wolves have entirely their own sound, and are incredibly different to place in a genre other than alternative. They range from rock and grunge to blues, with tracks such as ‘Make Noise’ for me in particular reflecting a strong blues influence.
Those Delta Wolves have created a more than worthy second EP full of somewhat aggressive energy, with ‘Auricle’ featuring three new tracks, ‘Hide And Seek’, ‘SGMC’, and ‘Yellow King’, which all prove to be strong tracks that I imagine to shine at future gigs, complimenting their raw live sound perfectly. With the first two tracks committing to rock, with killer riffs, a gritty vocal workout for Jonny, fiery bass lines, and what sounds like a lot of replaced drum sticks for Mark, ‘Yellow King’ goes down more of a blues road as the band show their full potential. From the beginning Jonny’s vocals take a completely different style, and Ben’s guitar hangs on every word, as it makes incredible noises that need to be witnessed live! Absolutely stunning guitar work from Ben!
Their new EP ‘Auricle’, which is being released on the ‘Wolfpack Records’ label, is set to be released on the 14th March 2015 at the ‘Crossroads’ event at Carpe Diem, Leeds. It’ll be available to purchase from Leeds based Independent Record Stores Jumbo Records and Crash Records, as well as to download via iTunes.
Keep your eyes peeled for future gigs on the bands website!
