A few months ago we wrote about Liverpool five piece Gulf breaking in to the music scene and becoming one of Liverpool’s hottest new bands with pop bliss tracks ‘Emitter’ and ‘Tell Me Again’. Gulf and their originality quickly attracted attention and interest with ‘Emitter’ featuring in NME’s ’20 Tracks You Need To Hear This Week’, but wait until you hear what the band have been up to since that cracking achievement!
Not only have Gulf earned a place as ‘band of the week’ with both the Guardian and the Liverpool Echo, 2015 has also seen the band play some fantastic venues; including most impressively a Maida Vale session with Huw Stephens for Radio One. They’ve also played venues such as the Sugarmill in Stoke, where they played on the same stage that the legendary Johnny Marr played on just a few days before. The band have many dates in the pipeline including an appearance at Live at Leeds Festival this weekend and Liverpool Sound City at the end of the month, which will see them share the Atlantic Stage with big bands such as the Vaccines and the Flaming Lips. This summer will also see the band take on perhaps their biggest show to date at Latitude Festival.
Tonight saw the release of the first Gulf music video for ‘Tell Me Again’, which sees the band stay loyal to the psychedelic images they publish with their tracks and on their social media. The brightness and both the memorising colours and shapes throughout the video perfectly compliment the bands trippy guitars and woozy sound, and it’d be impossible to not admit how utterly fascinating it is to watch the shapes move in time with the impressive drum beat.
It’s great to see the bands shimmering sound taking the music scene by storm, and if you can catch them this summer then you definitely won’t be disappointed. It won’t be much longer before their summer coated shimmering sound attracts a much wider audience!
