In a conversation with Twitter followers, Canada’s premier electronic musician, Grimes (AKA Claire Boucher) has announced that she is to release her next album in October. The as yet unnamed record, in a contradictory statement, is apparently to be set for a ‘surprise’ release in the announced month, so Grimes could release it anywhere between the 1st and Hallowe’en!
The reason for this, according to Boucher, is to avoid leaks of individual tracks or the whole album – which indicates that the album will be released electronically before being released on CD and vinyl.
Stylistically, the album is said to be completely different to recent singles “GO (feat. Blood Diamonds)” and “REALiTi” and will feature live instrumentation. Whatever the album is going to sound like, it is sure to be eclectic (as is clear with Grimes’ previous albums) and will follow on from 2012’s Visions.
