Since catching the band’s set as part of the Live at Leeds Festival at the beginning of the month, I’ve been looking forward to the next release from Model Aeroplanes; a Scottish band made up of four school friends who have been building their fan base since they secured a slot performing on the BBC Introducing stage at T in the Park, drawing in one of the stage’s largest crowds of the entire weekend.
The band’s new single ‘Deep in the Pool’ was officially released on Monday, just in time for their appearance at Dot to Dot Festival this weekend, which will see the band play in Manchester, Nottingham and Bristol. ‘Deep in the Pool’ is the band’s fifth single since the release of their debut single ‘Crazy’ just two years ago.
The upbeat single carries the band’s youthful indie pop sound perfectly, filling us with the confidence that we can expect more radio ready tunes from them in the future. The track is just as catchy as the band’s last single ‘Club Low’ which received attention from XFM, as well as BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 1. Though quite a drum driven track, it’s almost impossible to fight the urge to dance along to guitarist Grant Irvine’s funky riffs.
As well as Dot to Dot Festival this weekend, the band are also playing Koko in London on June 19th as part of Club NME.
