If this is the first time you’ve heard the name ‘Dantevilles’, it almost certainly won’t be the last. Hailing from Manchester, Dantevilles are a four piece band who are undoubtedly making their mark on British guitar music. The band have recently released ‘Calm Before The Storm’, their second EP which boasts three upbeat and energetic tracks; ‘Colour’, ‘Sea Of Change’ and ‘Skin & Bones’.
‘Calm Before The Storm’ is a brilliant collection of tracks that without a doubt deserve their place on the Manchester music scene. Though this doesn’t mean that they can be compared to any other artist – the tracks are fresh, they’re new and they’re exciting. All three tracks stay true to the guitar influences of the band without morphing into a sound that you’ve heard so many times before. My personal favourite on the EP is the groove heavy ‘Sea Of Change’ which sees the band fuse together catchy lyrics, a drumbeat that defies you not to dance and funky riffs that would make Nile Rodgers proud.
When it comes to support, Dantevilles aren’t short of it, with both Stockport’s own Blossoms and Inspiral Carpets’ Clint Boon backing them. Clint Boon recently featured the melodic ‘Colour’ on both his ‘Storytime With Boon’ and ‘Set2Go’ podcasts. Set2Go is a podcast that’s exclusively for brand new music, featuring a selection of up and coming artists chosen by Clint.
Dantevilles will be playing the Ritz in Manchester on June 3rd. The 1500 capacity venue will be hosting a spectacular night of up and coming artists including Sly Antics, Cleargreen, The Nix and The Clarks. Further additions to the line up are due to be announced.
You can listen to the EP over on Spotify and buy tickets for the Ritz show here.
