Earlier this year, Stockport 4 piece Indie/Funk outfit No Hot Ashes were dubbed “Big in 2016” by This Feeling and Fred Perry Subculture. Since then they’ve released their debut single ‘Goose’ which was premiered on The Music Ninja and has had well over 40,000 Spotify streams. Luckily for us, they’ve also been back in the studio with platinum record producer Gavin Monaghan (Editors, The Twang & Ocean Colour Scene) to record their new single ‘Cool Cat’.
The infectiously catchy ‘Cool Cat’ lives up to all expectations we’ve had of the band since they blessed our ears with ‘Goose’. It’s great to see the band surprise us with a brass section that completes the track, fitting into the band’s funk rock sound as though it’s always been there. In a recent interview with their label Playing With Sound, the band said that when writing a song their aim is to make people dance. Well, surely it’s not possible to do anything but dance when you listen to this single!
Check out No Hot Ashes on Facebook for their upcoming tour dates which includes appearances at festivals such as Into The Woods, Tramlines and Bingley Music Festival.
