Electronic pop trio LOWES has released their latest track “Game of Love”, along with an accompanying music video directed by the award-winning Taisia Deeva. The Lancashire trio consists of vocalist Evie and producer/multi-instrumentalists Luke and Jamie. Their music is characterised by a euphoric and emotional sound that’s both powerful and vulnerable which has seen them go from strength to strength and win over fans around the world.
“Game of Love” is a hook-driven dance pop anthem filled with 80s-inspired sonics, featuring compelling vocals from Evie, who was named BBC Radio 1’s Best Dance Vocalist in 2021. The music video explores themes of living one’s truth and the freedom that follows and brings to life the ‘broken plates’ metaphor and shows Evie sneaking into a fairground with child-like intrigue.
The music video for “Game of Love” is an artistic short film that triumphantly visualises the lyrical concepts of the song. Taisia Deeva, the director of the music video, is known for her highly technical and vividly insightful films. Her work explores the human experience and has received global film festival acclaim and numerous awards in a variety of directorial spaces. The music video is a stunning visual accompaniment to the track and enhances the emotional resonance of the song.
On the music video, LOWES offers, “The music video encapsulates this feeling of new found freedom when we break out of situations that are keeping us from being our truest selves and living our fullest lives. It’s so important that we realise when we are just going along with the status quo of a relationship just because that’s what has become the norm, and either act to fix it, or move on.”
The track follows the release of the outfit’s Late Nights Visions EP and “Lucid Love” with DJ Cristoph in November of last year which was a BBC Radio 1 Hottest Record with Clara Amfo. The band has had a string of high profile collaborative singles with the likes of CamelPhat, High Contrast, Franky Wah, KC Lights, Sigma, Alan Fitzpatrick, The Prototypes, Vintage Culture, and Solardo, racking up over 65 million streams to date.
LOWES’ music is captivating and moving, imbued with an authenticity that makes it both powerful and vulnerable. “Game of Love” is another clear indication that the band will continue to excite, engage and push boundaries with the creative vision. The track is a celebration of love and all the emotions that come with it, from the heady rush of falling head over heels to the bittersweet pain of heartbreak.
Commenting on the single, they share, “Originally the lyrics of this song came from the idea that we have an increasingly ‘throwaway’ attitude to our relationships… an unwillingness to fix what is broken and persevere to make things work. Using the analogy of paper plates, broken China, and being ‘all out of detergent / all out of answers’. But then as the song developed it became clear that there was a second story going on. The track became a kind of self-mantra about being brave enough to get what you want, sticking up for yourself in relationships, and listening to your true desires.”
Overall, “Game of Love” is a stunning track that showcases the trio’s talents and highlights their ability to create emotionally charged music that resonates with audiences. As they continue to establish themselves as one of the most exciting acts in the UK, “Game of Love” is another stellar release from the rising trio.
