MAIKE DEPAS, the 20-year-old techno visionary from Milan, Italy, has released a brand new single and music video titled “Voyager”. The seven and a half minute symphonic trance opus offers a captivating creation of electronic music and the accompanying music video captures the perfect pairing of a dystopian, cyberpunk hybrid that depicts what the future of mankind may hold. Depas collaborated with freelance 3D artist and motion designer, Eris Is Red, to bring his futuristic vision to life.
The music video for “Voyager” is a visually stunning masterpiece that combines the immersive audio-visual spectacles of Italian production powerhouses Meduza and Anyma with the metaverse and virtual reality. The concept for the video came to Depas in a dream, and he worked with Eris Is Red for over a month and a half to bring his vision to fruition.
The video is post-apocalyptic but also showcases the overwhelming presence of nature among humans. It depicts an anonymous main character walking through a bombed-out wasteland towards a glowing stargate in the starry sky. As they reach the heart of the city, a mysterious energy source ignites, bringing the city back to life. The premise of the video is the protagonist’s inner consciousness dreaming of a better future for future generations.
Depas’s experimental and unique style is evident in “Voyager”. His passion for the dance floor and techno is evident in the melodic, harmonic and rhythmic elements of the song. He’s managed to evolve musically thanks to his experiences studying abroad, which allowed him to incorporate different genres and instruments into his music; he’s obsessed with innovation and combines various genres to create his unique sound.
