Dublin-based electronic duo BANYAH has returned with a bang after a break since their last release in 2021 with their new single “Too Easy.” After spending most of 2021 and 2022 on tour with Clannad, the brother-sister duo had their first live performance in January 2023, and “Too Easy” captures the same energy and electricity that they experienced on stage.
The song explores the chaos of touring and how easy it is to fall into bad habits, such as drinking and staying up late every night, despite the intense schedule of playing concerts. The lyrics delve into the inner dialogue that occurs when trying to convince oneself that this tour will be different and the back and forth that occurs while trying to do better, but sometimes it’s just “too easy” to fall back into the same patterns.
The song starts with a simple electronic beat, which is quickly followed by Aisling’s dreamy vocals, inviting the listener to become a part of their world. The track’s rhythm takes hold of the listener, creating a feeling of being on a journey with BANYAH, and the chorus brings the listener to the peak of the trip with Paul’s vocals joining the mix to add colour and contrast to the lead melodies.
BANYAH has always been known for their unique sound, and “Too Easy” showcases their ability to blend different genres seamlessly. The song features a mix of electronic beats, dreamy vocals, organic guitar tones and energising synths, creating a sound that’s modern and nostalgic at the same time. The song’s production is also worth mentioning, with the mixing and mastering executed to perfection, creating a track that sounds amazing both on headphones and on a sound system.
What stands out the most about “Too Easy” is the energy and emotion that BANYAH has poured into the song. It’s evident that the duo has put their heart and soul into creating this track, and it shows in the way that it resonates with the listener. It’s a song that will make you want to dance, sing and feel the moment.
BANYAH’s “Too Easy” is a brilliant addition to their discography and a testament to the duo’s ability to create music that’s unique and captivating. With the release of their upcoming EP in the summer of 2023, it’s evident that BANYAH is on the cusp of greatness, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this talented duo. If you’re a fan of electronic music and powerful beats, be sure to give “Too Easy” a listen.
