Hi Ken! How are you?
Hi! I’m doing great, thank you. I’m always excited to share my music and creative process with others.
Can you walk us through your creative process for your latest release “Unfocused”?
For “Unfocused”, I started with a basic idea and melody that I had in mind. I then built up the track by experimenting with different sounds, synths, and drum patterns until I found the right combination. I then focused on the arrangement and adding in various elements to keep the listener engaged.
What inspired you to create this particular track?
The inspiration for “Unfocused” came from a place of feeling a bit lost and overwhelmed in life, while at the same time, I wanted to try a harder and darker style while still having a track that is both energetic and uplifting.
How long did it take you to finish this track from start to finish?
It took me about two weeks to complete the track from start to finish. I find that giving myself enough time to revise and refine my work is essential to achieving the best possible result.
Can you tell us about any challenges you faced while creating ‘Unfocused’?
The main challenge I faced while creating “Unfocused”, was finding the right balance between the Future Rave sound I am currently doing with a darker and more energetic sound I wanted the track to have. It was a delicate process of trial and error to get it just right.
How did you decide on the track’s structure and arrangement?
I decided on the track’s structure and arrangement by focusing on the journey I wanted the listener to experience. I aimed for a gradual build-up leading to a powerful climax, followed by a reflective and calming outro. The breakdown, followed by a “fake drop” before another buildup and the real drop worked very well.
Can you tell us about any special effects or production techniques you used in this track?
In terms of special effects and production techniques, I used a combination of analog synths and digital plugins to create a rich and textured sound. I also played with sidechain compression and creative EQing to make certain elements of the track pop.
How do you feel about the track now that it’s completed and released?
I’m really proud of “Unfocused” and how it turned out. The feedback has been amazing, and it’s always rewarding to see people connecting with the music I create.
What kind of atmosphere were you trying to create with this track?
I wanted to create an atmosphere that was both introspective and uplifting with this track. I aimed to evoke a sense of self-discovery and personal growth, while also providing an energetic and danceable experience.
How do you approach promoting your music and getting it out to a wider audience?
To promote my music, I utilise social media platforms, collaborate with other artists, and submit my tracks to music blogs and playlists. I also try to engage with my fans and keep them updated on my projects and upcoming performances.
What do you hope listeners take away from your music and performances?
I could say that I hope listeners take away a sense of connection and emotion from my music and performance, and that my ultimate goal is to create music that resonates with people, and provides an outlet for them to express themselves and find solace in. But in all simplicity, I just want people to have a great feeling and enjoy listening to my music, just as I enjoy listening to other people’s music.
