New music video from Callisto

Alternative rock outfit Callisto brings us their new single, “This Is Awkward,” accompanied by a music video that gives viewers an intimate look into the band’s practice space. The video perfectly captures the energy of a live show balanced with the relaxed atmosphere of a rehearsal, with the band’s red-walled practice space, covered in spray paint and posters, conveying a sense of intensity and a no-nonsense approach to making music.

Although Callisto is a relatively new name in the music scene, the musicians in the group are seasoned professionals with impressive track records. The two vocalists in Callisto, Howi Spangler and Brandon Hardesty, both come from revered rock groups, while drummer and lyricist James DiNanno and vocalist, keyboardist and guitarist Rob DiNanno were in Silhouette Rising before the group’s tragic car accident.

Despite their different backgrounds, they combine on “This Is Awkward” to spin an in-your-face, powerful mainstream rock outing showcases the band’s penchant for groove and feel. The single itself is a fast-paced, dynamic song that starts with pounding drums and a simple guitar riff sits steady as the vocals glide in.

Spangler and Hardesty trade off on vocals, with Spangler’s smooth, melodic voice and Hardesty’s raw, energetic delivery complementing each other perfectly, resulting in a superb angst-filled modern grungey wall of sound. The music video for “This Is Awkward” is a perfect accompaniment to the song.

It showcases the band’s raw energy and gives viewers an inside look at their creative process. The footage of the band playing in their practice space captures a sense of camaraderie and fun that’s infectious and serves to heighten the impact of the sound. The video is shot in a way that makes the viewer feel like they are right there in the room with the band, experiencing the music in a visceral way.

Overall, “This Is Awkward” is a sensational single from Callisto. The band’s commitment to punchy grooves and sonic energy is evident in every note, and their gritty sound and intensity make for a captivating listening experience. The music video adds an extra layer of depth to the song, giving viewers an intimate look at the band in action and showcases their infectious energy and musical chemistry. If this single is any indication of what’s to come, Callisto is a band to watch in the coming years.
