New EP from Austin Brockner

Austin Brockner is a passionate artist with a love for blues and soul music, who’s just dropped his highly anticipated new EP, DREAMS. Raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Austin’s musical upbringing consisted of iconic artists such as BB King, Ray Charles, Cream and The Temptations. His journey as a musician began in 2007 when his father gifted him a guitar, which became his primary creative outlet and a means to navigate life’s challenges.

In 2012, Austin faced unexpected loss and significant obstacles, causing him to lose the therapeutic connection he had with his guitar. Seeking a way to channel his grief into his art, he turned to songwriting, drawing inspiration from artists like City & Colour, James Morrison and Allen Stone. It took several years for Austin to merge his guitar-focused approach with storytelling and emotionally-charged lyrics, ultimately discovering his unique style which seamlessly combines the soulful essence of blues with heartfelt, authentic songwriting.

DREAMS is the EP that Austin Brockner has always envisioned creating. It represents the culmination of his musical aspirations, resulting in a collection of dynamic and sonically rich songs. Collaborating with a talented studio band and a superb seven-piece brass section, Austin pushes beyond his identity as a solo singer-songwriter, demonstrating the evolution of his sonic vision. The EP is a reflection of Austin’s dual ambitions: to emulate his guitar heroes and create beautiful and meaningful songs as a singer-songwriter. It embarks on a journey through love, intertwining with a broader narrative of self-discovery.

Opening with “Holding You Back,” the EP immediately captivates with its delicate grooves, smooth lead vocals and storytelling lyricism. The song serves as a heartfelt letter to someone who’s not yet where they want to be. Vibrant brass tones, warm electric piano, and impressive guitar work elevate the alluring and soulful pop jam, climaxing with a sensational wah-drenched solo.

“Release” opens with a playful bass guitar intro, accompanied by hazy guitar leads and a laid-back beat that sets the stage for Austin’s rich vocals. The track effortlessly blends elements of downtempo R&B, resulting in a smooth and mesmerising vibe. “Lazy Wednesday” brings a bright and breezy rock pop sound that pays homage to the timeless music of the past while incorporating a modern twist, showcasing Austin Brockner’s versatility as an artist.

“Sleep Talk” transports listeners to a blissful indie pop realm, offering a summer-ready sound led by Austin’s elegant vocal delivery. The arrangement of lightly crunching guitar tones and deft percussion creates an energising backdrop for the track. The EP concludes with “Evangeline,” a guitar-led soundscape that builds a slow groove before Austin’s vocals gracefully enter the scene. The song takes listeners on a six-minute musical journey, blending heartfelt lyricism with dreamy instrumentals, culminating in a deeply moving experience.

Austin Brockner’s DREAMS EP beautifully captures his creative ambition and enduring songwriting across five remarkable songs, each showcasing his immense talent, from his soul-stirring vocals to his impeccable guitar skills. Austin’s ability to pay tribute to the music of yesteryear while infusing his music with a contemporary edge is a testament to his musical skill and the EP embodies the power of music as a vessel for self-expression and emotional exploration. Austin Brockner’s journey as an artist shines through every lyric and note, leaving listeners captivated by his authenticity and sonic passion. With this release, Austin firmly establishes himself as a rising star in the music industry.
