In the world of camera flashes and living in front of the lens, where vulnerability and determination intertwine, Logan Avidan found her true passion: songwriting. Already a successful figure in front of the camera, Avidan decided to lean all the way into her love for music, and it’s clearly paying off with her explosive debut single, “Left My Heart.” The New York City-based artist showcases her talent with “Left My Heart,” a deliciously infectious pop rock track that serves as the first taste of what’s to come on her forthcoming debut solo album, Hot And Bothered.
“Left My Heart” introduces us to Avidan’s enchanting sound, driven by delicate flange-tinged guitar tones and a gently grooving beat that build the foundation for her smooth and soulful storytelling vocals. The energy picks up as the chorus hits, accompanied by lightly crunching guitar chords that highlight the emphatic message of the song.
The accompanying music video adds an extra layer to the experience, featuring Avidan in various eye-catching outfits, from slick city professional suits to a cheerleader uniform, as she performs against shifting abstract backgrounds.
The birth of “Left My Heart” was serendipitous, as the song idea struck Avidan while on a plane. She quickly recorded a voice memo to preserve the idea mid-flight, and as soon as she landed, she shared it with co-writer and producer John Eatherly. The duo worked together to build out the track, with Eatherly adding a catchy chord progression on guitar. The majority of the song was recorded in Avidan’s apartment, before they finalised the production at Sisserou Studios in Dumbo, Brooklyn, where they tracked the drums.
“Left My Heart” is an anthem that encourages listeners to break free from the chains of fear and step outside their comfort zones. It’s a reminder that making dreams a reality requires taking leaps of faith and embracing all possibilities. Avidan’s delivery and heartfelt lyrics leave a powerful impression, painting a picture of a singer-songwriter unafraid to explore her emotions and encourage her fans to do the same.
Logan Avidan’s debut single showcases her immense talent and potential as an artist. “Left My Heart” is a striking track that sets the stage for her future in the music industry. With this impressive debut, Avidan has proven that she’s willing to take risks and leap into the unknown, making her a promising and exciting addition to the world of singer-songwriters. Her bold and authentic approach to music suggests that she’ll continue to win over audiences with her compelling vocals and infectious melodies.
We caught up with Logan Avidan to find out more about her musical journey so far, her debut single “Left My Heart” and what she’s got lined up for the future. Check out our interview with Logan Avidan below.
Hey Logan! How are you feeling now that your debut “Left My Heart” is out?
It feels soooo good to have Left My Heart out in the world! Before releasing a song, there’s a feeling like it’s only mine and no one else knows about it. Now that it’s out, anybody can make it their own. I love thinking about the different ways others can perceive it and what the song can mean to them.
Do you remember what music first made a lasting impression on you when you were a kid?
Growing up in South Florida, my older sister would drive me to the beach and blast  bands like Sublime, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Offspring in the car. I remember that time in my life so vividly because there was a childlike sense of freedom. Those moments of singing in the car and not thinking about anything else  definitely sparked an excitement for music.
What’s your earliest memory of writing your own music?
When I first moved to New York, I would stay up all night working out songs and calling my mom to play them to her over the phone. I remember having to sing really quietly because I had roommates.
What do you love about the New York music scene?
There’s an element of immediacy in the New York music scene. The city moves at a fast pace and I think that forces something creatively out of you without any time to question it. I also love the theatricality of it. It’s as much about the music as it is about the performance and people bring their unique perspectives to the stage.
What would you say is the perfect setting for listeners to enjoy your sound?
Blasting the songs in the car or walking down the street with your headphones is a perfect place. I love getting lost in my own world when I listen.
How has your own style and sound evolved since you started out?
I think it’s always evolving. My style and sound is a reflection of what resonates with me the most. Whether it’s from movies, books, fashion, or music, I let my intuition guide me.
What message did you want to get across with the new single?
I want to encourage others to follow what their heart wants. To take risks. To dive into all possibilities. It’s important to leave behind anything that weighs you down so that you can move gracefully.
What can we expect from your upcoming album ‘Hot and Bothered’?
“Hot and Bothered” is bright pink, loud guitars and diary entrees. The album double dares you to take risks and feel sexy doing it. It’s me facing challenges and imperfections while not forgetting to laugh.
What artists have you been listening to most recently?
Beyoncé has been soundtracking my New York summer thus far! I was listening to Chappell Roan this morning too and loving her. I’ve also been on a big Prince kick lately. My soundtracks are always changing based on my mood.
What’s the main thing you want people to get out of listening to your music?
I want people to find solace in my music and feel empowered. I write a lot about my challenges and what I tell myself to get over them. The main thing I want people to get out of listening is to feel less alone in their experiences and to encourage following what the heart wants.
What’s been your favourite live performance so far?
I saw of Montreal at the knockdown center in 2018 and it has always stood out to me. It was such a theatrical and energised show and I remember feeling all buzzy after. More recently, I saw Faye Webster perform and I really loved that too!
Who would be 3 artists to headline your dream festival? And where would it be?
Great question! I think I’d have to go with No Doubt (tragic kingdom era), Lana del Rey, and Beyonce! In Hawaii!
Do you have any advice for a new artist wanting to follow your footsteps?
Always follow YOUR intuition. The more genuine you are, the more interesting the music will be. Stay true to yourself and work really hard.
Finally, what do you have lined up for the rest of 2023?
I’m going to release another single and video on this side of the year! I’ll also be announcing show dates and continuing to work on more music videos that will come out in 2024.
