Hailing originally from Budapest and now based between the Hungarian capital and London, Dirty Slippers is a dynamic indie pop rock quartet that’s made waves in the music scene of Hungary and beyond. Comprising Lazar Lobo-Szaloky on vocals and guitars, Bebi Ferenczi on drums, Dominik Felleg on bass and Daniel Vikukel on keyboards, the band’s fusion of musical talents has led to impressive accomplishments both in their home country and on the international stage.
Having already achieved remarkable success with three of their records landing on the top of Hungarian album sales charts and numerous songs making it to radio station top lists, Dirty Slippers is no stranger to the limelight. Their musical journey even took them to prestigious recording locations, recently including the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, where they’ve worked with renowned producers like U2 and Bon Jovi producer Tim Palmer and George Shilling, who’s credits include Oasis and Blur.
Now they bring us their latest release to premiere the brand new single titled “Wide Open,” yet another stunning showcase of their musical prowess. Produced by Tim Palmer, the track emerges as a stadium-sized indie rock anthem that captures the band’s signature sound. The song kicks off with a full-bodied ensemble of delicate electric guitar tones layered over a driving beat.
As Lazar Lobo-Szaloky’s vocals take flight, carrying irresistible melodies, the music builds to a crescendo. With the onset of the first chorus, the track explodes into a sonic landscape where crunchy guitars, lofty synth lines, compelling lead vocals and invigorating drums come together in perfect harmony. The result is a song that’s infectiously catchy and euphorically engaging, distilling the essence of Dirty Slippers’ electrifying style.
The band’s debut English single “Honest Kid,” released in February 2023, was a resounding success, amassing over 41K streams on Spotify and drawing international praise. With “Wide Open,” Dirty Slippers once again demonstrate their knack for crafting anthemic rock music that resonates with a global audience. The song showcases their ability to infuse each element with energy and emotion, creating a sound that’s at once familiar and innovative.
Notably, Dirty Slippers recently took their artistic vision to new heights by recording a 10-track English-language album at the iconic Abbey Road Studios, under the guidance of Grammy-nominated producer Tim Palmer. “Wide Open” serves as a stellar introduction to this upcoming LP, standing as a rock masterpiece that demands attention. The track’s rhythmic drumming, captivating guitar hooks and exquisite vocals intertwine beautifully, creating an enthralling experience that’s destined to win over audiences around the world.
Commenting on the new single, the band shares, “Wide Open is a motivational hymn for the youth in a modern world, when everything is much harder, the people are more aggressive and the daily problems in our life are even worse. It’s a story of a person whose life is hampered by many difficulties and he often feels that everything and everyone has conspired against him. But despite this, he fights like a one man army for his dreams, to find happiness and the meaning and mission of his life.”
