Blueprint Tokyo is an Oklahoma City-based indie rock outfit, formed by the duo of Andy and Kevin, who’ve been walking their own path across the American music scene for over a decade. Their love for crafting hooks and expansive atmospheric sounds see them build a unique sonic identity that’s undergone a constant evolution throughout their sonic partnership.
Andy and Kevin’s journey as musicians was not without its struggles. As they stood on the cusp of becoming full-time musicians, Kevin received a life-altering diagnosis which forced him to step away from their creative pursuit temporarily. However, through the power of perseverance and resilience, his good health eventually brought them back together to reignite their musical adventure.
Re-emerging in 2021 Blueprint Tokyo, they marked a fresh chapter in their artistic careers with the debut single, “Panic Carefully,” introducing the world to their captivating sound and setting the stage for their A Whole New Life EP, which followed later that year. Over the past couple of years, they’ve dropped a string of tracks, each unearthing a new layer of their dreamy indie rock vision.
Their most recent release, the new single titled “Stand and Deliver,” offers the latest chapter of Blueprint Tokyo’s sound. Opened by bright and subtly haunting piano chords, the lead vocals glide in delivering sweet melodies to resolve the sound with an alluring and uplifting tone.
Lofty and graceful, they soaring as the arrangement builds with a blend of fluttering synth, snapping drums, bouncy piano chords, intricate electric guitar tones warm bass lines. As all these elements collide, their vocals take on a spectacular call and response structure, crafting a sound that you can get utterly lost in.
It’s a truly arresting indie rock outing that has all the elegant grandiosity, smokey aesthetic, timeless quality and rich vocal timbre of iconic bands like The National. As their musical endeavour continues to flourish, we can’t see what they’ll share next.
