Based in London, KeepVibesNear is a truly distinctive artist to emerge, casting a mesmeric spell with his dark and emotive style of alternative R&B. Born in Romford and currently based in the capital, KeepVibesNear possesses a unique gift; an unmistakable voice that weaves tales of melancholy and emotion. He’s stamped his name not only as a solo artist but also as a pivotal contributor to The Silhouettes Project, as well as notable collaborations alongside FloFilz, BERWYN, Safiyyah and Coops.
With ancestral ties to Nigeria, KeepVibesNear, often referred to as KVN, is on a mission to redefine the narrative surrounding masculinity. Through his music, he aspires to challenge the outdated notion that men are limited in their emotional expression. With a recurring theme of troubled love coursing through the river of his musical output, KVN brings a refreshing vulnerability to his sonic offering.
Now, KVN returns with his latest offering, the brand new single titled “Another Casualty.” The track introduces itself with bright guitar tones, delicate strums interwoven with plucked lines that immediately evoke a sense of intrigue. As KeepVibesNear’s impassioned vocals enter, hovering amidst a sea of ethereal atmosphere.
Layer by layer, he builds his vocals, adding subtle percussive clicks, shimmering instrumental flourishes and the enchanting presence of a smooth saxophone line. With perfect timing, the beat kicks in, weaving an intricate musical fabric that captures the essence of experimental R&B.
“Another Casualty” is a triumph of songwriting and arrangement. KeepVibesNear navigates the twists and turns of the track, revealing the depth of his creativity and performance panache. His voice is an ever-present light, guiding listeners through the lush soundscape he’s crafted. With each passing moment, the song asks the audience to immerse themselves fully, losing themselves in the rich textures of this soulful and entirely original cut.
Commenting on the single, he shares, “Another Casualty is a song about misused time. In relationships we have good times and bad. This song is about how we come back from the bad for someone we deeply care about. That reflection you look for inside to try and be better when it’s necessary.”
Adding, “I see this song as a conversation with the feeling that comes from a certain type of solitude we only really feel in and out of love. This feeling really inspired me with the image of being lost at shore, another casualty of the sea and the drama of it all.”
