Alternative Pop from 5K HD

Austria’s 5K HD, formed by Mira Lu Kovacs, Manu Mayr, Martin Eberle, Benny Omerzell and Andreas Lettner, is a visionary outfit that blurs in their relentless sonic exploration. With accolades like the Amadeus Austrian Music Award and the MMETA European Music Prize, the band has won over fans and tastemakers alike with their highly original sound.

Individually recognised for their musical talents, the members linked up to create an unmatched fusion of styles. First making an impact with their debut album, And To In A, in 2017, they were quick to stake their claim as an exciting supergroup on the rise, while their performances became celebrated experiences at pop festivals and jazz events.

The band’s discography includes the critically acclaimed “High Performer” (2019) and the unexpected hit single “Happy Fxxxing Life” (2020), which topped Radio FM4’s Year-End Charts. This success solidified their reputation for boldness, experimentation, and a remarkable ability to traverse diverse musical landscapes.

Now bringing us their second release of 2023, they share their brand new single titled “Off And On,” a highly original and cinematic alternative pop outing. Opened by the buzz of a synth, the stuttering beat ushers in the airy vocals as a grooving rhythm takes hold. Crafting a sound that’s at once intimate and atmospheric, “Off And On” is a stunning display of the band’s forward-thinking innovative sound and experimental approach to creating music.

Deep ominous bass tones underpin the track as playful staccato vocal shots cut between the hushed melodic lines while piquant instrumental tones and soft sonic textures pepper the arrangement. “Off And On” delivers a brooding exploration of relationship dynamics, narrated through 5K HD’s distinctive musical lens.
