Newcomer NEW ENTMT is the new project of Stockholm-based musician Tobias Bergholm, who, after three years of pensive reflection, has crafted a collection of five tracks exploring life’s complexities; themes of loss, friendship and relationships. With roots in rock, Tobias steers NEW ENTMT into a new direction, embracing a sonic adventure that sees him explore a ‘slowdisco’ style.
Tobias shares, “While I’ve always appreciated the power and simplicity of rock music, this project allowed me to explore a different creative path. I’ve been working with layers, nuances, and textures to create something different. Something new.” Now, making his entrance as NEW ENTMT, he unveils the debut single titled “The Way Love Burns (Out),” a fresh cut of relaxed pop vibes dripping in a sunny west coast aesthetic.
Mixed by Jan Lundkvist, known for his work with artists like Lustan’s Lakejer, Webstrarna and Orup, the first single serves as the perfect taste of NEW ENTMT’s upcoming self-titled EP. The debut single sets the tone with a slick indie pop sound, propelled by an infectious groove and adorned with irresistible hooks.
Opened by a piquant flute lead, fluttering elegantly over staccato guitar plucks, shuffling drums and pulsing bass lines, the artist’s vocals enter to thread stretched melodic leads. Layering his voice and injecting dreamy synth flourishes, the chorus then pops with instantly memorable leads and danceable rhythm. It’s a sensational track and worthy first outing that announces NEW ENTMT as an exciting artist making original music with bags of commercial appeal.
As a debut single, ‘The Way Love Burns (Out)’ is a bold and confident introduction to NEW ENTMT’s musical universe. The artist demonstrates a keen ear for crafting immersive soundscapes that invite listeners into a world where alternative pop collides with grooving rhythms.
It’s a compelling artistic statement, a declaration that NEW ENTMT is here to offer a superb sound and we can’t wait to see what his upcoming EP has in store. Commenting on his new endeavour, he shares, “Three years may seem like a long time, but my goal was never to finish an EP; it was about confronting the turbulence in my life during that time. The songs helped me process and understand how I really felt.”
