Deep West links with Moloko

Deep West is a new name in the tech house scene, bringing a unique fusion of slick synths and Miami rhythms to win over audiences worldwide. With a history of producing and ghost-producing top-ten hits for other artists, the artist took a hiatus from music production.

Now, under the alias Deep West, he returns with his own sound that’s seen him go from strength to strength since dropping his debut single “Body 2 Body” in August. For his sophomore effort, he’s linked up with the Sheffield-based dance pop duo Moloko, formed by Irish singer Roisin Murphy and producer Mark Brydon.

Since their debut in 1995, Moloko has earned critical acclaim with multiple albums, global tours and hit singles. Now, Deep West has creates a tech house anthem titled “On My Mind,” a reimagined version that samples Moloko’s classic hit “The Time Is Now,” released via Tiësto’s Musical Freedom label.

Opened by the soulful vocals of the original, a gentle kick injects a rhythmic anchor as softly swirling synth textures wrap around the vocals. The pulse of synth bass lines add subtle intensity as the drums build up to the drop.

Bursting with danceable energy, snapping beats and chopped vocal samples, “On My Mind” delivers an iconic tech house outing that wraps the original track by Moloko in a completely new sound. The track retains the essence of Moloko’s original vocals while infusing a deep, grooving energy and energising melodies, resulting in a sonic experience that’s sure to capture the hearts of listeners and light up dancefloors around the world.

Commenting on making the track, Deep West shares, “At the house of a friend, an avid vinyl collector, I stumbled upon Moloko’s classic hit – ‘The Time is Now.’ I started playing the track from the original vinyl, but the needle glitched right at the end of the line, ‘You’re the first thing and the last thing on my mind.’ This unexpected glitch was a creative revelation. Back in the studio, I produced ‘On My Mind,’ sampling this timeless club classic from Moloko.”
