Krohme is an acclaimed producer renowned for his innovative sound that skips across various musical styles to create entirely new subgenres. Starting out as a hip hop producer for artists in the Washington DC area during the late 90s, he’s since built an impressive discography linking up with a wide range of artists from different genres.
From hip hop to metal, his versatile production skills have allowed him to create music with leading artists like Ras Kass, Chuck D, Stetsasonic, Gravediggaz and many others. Now, off the back of an astonishing amount of releases in 2023 already, he brings us his latest record with the EP titled Legacy, released via the SpitSLAM Record Label Group imprint.
Serving up a 6 track release, with two versions of three original tracks, Legacy showcases the latest chapter of Krohme’s compelling hip hop sound. Opened by the title track “Legacy,” featuring Daddy-O of Stetsasonic, Kool Kim of UMCs, Chill Rob G of Flavor Unit and Aaron “P-Nut” Wills of 311, the EP kicks off with a moody groove of ominous sonic textures, shuffling drums from Krohme and slick bass lines performed by Aaron Wills.
Razor-sharp vocal flows spin throughout as vibe switch ups keep the track dynamic and surprising, underpinned by the ever-present punch of the drums and pops of bass guitar. “Come2getherNow” follows, this time seeing Krohme link with with Speech and The Impossebulls to craft an upbeat hip hop jam driven by lively drums and vibrant brass instrumentation. Injecting an addictive rhythm, the track is a flurry of superb instrumental interludes cut between sensational vocal flows.
“Circle of Lies” featuring The Impossebulls, Chuck D and Cesar Soto showcases the heavier side of Krohme’s sound with a rap metal sound. Overdriven guitars chug over the rattle of drums as powerful vocal delivery serves up biting lyricism that takes aim at the lies that filter down from politicians, leading to war and catastrophe around the world. It’s a hard-hitting alternative hip hop cut brimming with conscious lyricism and rousing energy.
The second half of the EP features a reprise version of “Come2getherNow,” an OG Mix of “Circle of Lies” and a radio edit of lead single “Legacy.” With this release, Krohme once again stakes his claim as a pioneering producer in the alternative hip hop sphere who consistently delivers powerful and thought-provoking music that connects with listeners across diverse musical tastes.
