Since its creation in 1995 in the Romanian city of Timisoara, Thy Veils has pushed a constant exploration of artistic expression. Founded as a studio project by musician Daniel Dorobantu, the project underwent a transformative journey over the years, earning its stripes as a pioneering force in the Romanian music scene. In 2008, Daniel expanded Thy Veils into a multi-disciplinary art outfit, ushering in a new era of creativity.
With a decorated career spanning over two decades, Thy Veils has entertained fans with seven self-produced full-length records, four live recordings and a collection of stellar singles. Beyond music, the project has also crafted visual art for live shows, video installations, film scores and contemporary dance choreography. Following the release of their earlier single “Upstream” this year, Thy Veils now bring us their latest offering, “Here We Are Sidereal.”
In this composition, the band serves up a beat-driven, synth-centric soundscape, offering an immersive sonic experience enriched with punchy beats, deep bass tones and vibrant synth textures. The track opens with a spacey atmosphere created by swirling electronic instrumentation.
Gentle percussive taps filter in, drawing the listener into an enveloping sound formed by floating elements and a hypnotic aesthetic. As the beat kicks in, Thy Veils introduces a danceable rhythm, driving the piece forward with swelling synth sounds and ethereal female vocal leads that thread stretched melodies through a reverb-drenched sonic ocean.
The intricacy of the instrumental arrangement shines, with delicate flourishes colliding to craft a mesmeric listening experience. Playful writing and exquisite sound design converge, showcasing Thy Veils’ knack for creating music that truly captivates.
Paired with the music is a live dance show recorded at the Galactic Tick Festival on September 9, 2023, in TimiÈ™oara, Romania. Founder and producer Daniel DorobanÈ›u, along with vocalists Alira Mun, Maria Hojda, and Francesca Hojda, linked up with a team of talented dancers to invite audiences to celebrate humanity’s first cosmic holiday: the Galactic Tick Day.
Thy Veils invited the public into the On.Set TV & film studios for 90 minutes of electronic music, immersive visuals, lights and dance improvisation. The resulting video captures the essence of this unique event, showcasing Thy Veils’ mission of breaking artistic barriers and creating mesmeric experiences.
