Lazarus Moment is a visionary Swedish producer who’s been at the forefront of the electronic music scene, consistently impressing with his cutting-edge sound. Since his debut record Bird Flies Home in 2018, he’s become a prominent figure, releasing a string of well-received singles, EPs and albums, racking up hundreds of thousands of streams.
Now bringing us his latest release, he shares his brand new four-track EP titled Inner Sanctum, released via Insight Music. The release marks the second outing from the artist on the imprint, which was established by Stefan Baranowski in 2011 and become a leading label in the ambient, chillwave and future garage music spheres.
With Inner Sanctum, Lazarus Moment serves up a truly hypnotic listening experience across four highly original tracks that distil his unique style and exquisite sound design. Opened by “Canopy Eyes,” the EP starts off with an airy atmosphere of sonic textures, bird chirps and warm crackle before the snapping beat enters with deep bass tones and floating vocal stretches. Journeying through a mesmeric and immersive electronic scene, it’s a stunning example of ambient electronica that ebbs and flows, rises and falls with intricate beat switch ups and shifting electronic instrumentation.
“Polyphonic Sky” crafts a trance-inducing sound of buzzy synth bleeps, winding bass slides and crunchy electronic beats. Building with rattling drum shots, zappy synth tones and subtle vocal samples, the track injects a gentle energy while maintaining a calming aesthetic throughout.
Title track “Inner Sanctum” slowly develops with swelling synth sweeps before the laid back beat ushers in a lush soundscape of warm sonic texture and delicate guitar flutters. It’s an enveloping sound of slick percussive work and perfect blend of crisp electronic elements with warm acoustic touches.
The EP closes with “Soular Inferno” with its lively fusion of glitching, stuttered beats and atmospheric synth tones and strike and plash above, floating in a wash of reverb among soft vocal samples as the intensity of the bass lines drive below. It’s another stellar slice of the artist’s incredible sound, providing the perfect finale to his sensational new EP.
Commenting on the inspiration behind the EP, the artist shares, “The EP wants to describe sonically how tones, frequencies, and rhythms are everywhere and connecting us, forming structures and patterns that can be found in both highly organised configurations and in completely random places. I have discovered that these elements not only connect us with our environment but also spiritually through the emotions they evoke. The idea behind Inner Sanctum is to build upon the emotions evoked by these patterns, which we observe with our eyes, ears, and hearts, and how our minds interpret them.”
The EP will be available on limited edition 12″ vinyl, featuring a stunning crystal clear record design, limited to just 100 copies. Mastered by Chris Pavey, Inner Sanctum stands as the latest showcase of Lazarus Moment’s groundbreaking electronic style as he continues to go from strength to strength on a thrilling sonic adventure.
