Belgian producer and DJ D-Nite is a sonic architect hailing from the Belgian city of Liège, where he co-runs the innovative Les Flâneurs collective. With a unique approach to crafting his sonic vision, he navigates the spheres of breaks, expansive techno, futuristic bass and progressive drum and bass. This pursuit of a cohesive hybrid creation is not confined to his studio releases; it also defines his dynamic DJ sets.
D-Nite’s musical journey took flight in 2018 with his debut single “All Around The Town,” and since then, he’s continued to win over audiences with a series of well-received EPs. His latest offering, the six-track Echoes EP, marks another chapter in his thrilling sonic exploration, released under the Fine Grains Records imprint.
Opened by atmospheric reversed textures joined by rustling percussive rhythms on “Late Night Tale,” soft bass pulses usher in a laid back groove as the tension rises. Building with a bouncy beat full of punchy kicks on the beat and clapping percussive tones, the swells of instrumental elements craft a mesmeric listening experience on this track full of danceable energy and slick sound design.
Title track “Echoes” follows with a stuttered electronic beat, setting up a spacey soundscape packed with shifting rhythms and modulating synth tones. Brimming with deep bass texture and playful synth leads, all underpinned by the intricate percussion work, it’s another stellar example of D-NITE original forward-thinking electronic sound.
“Calming Mantra” immediately hits with rumbling bass tones, crafting an ominous vibe that journeys through a dark scene full of pounding drums, eerie bell chimes and moody aesthetic. “Stuck In A Dream” serves up the final original cut on the EP with a stunning atmospheric sound that pairs the artist’s intense bass elements with airy sonic touches that float above, drifting delicately while the powerful flurry of drums builds below, rising to a high octane experimental drum and bass sound.
The EP closes with two remixes, first, H-SIK reimagines the title track “Echoes,” taking the grooving sound of the original and injecting an array of biting synth energy and high-octane drum work. Barcelona-based Colombian artist Blanali then delivers a remix of “Calming Mantra,” filtering the downtempo, thumping beats and piquant instrumentation of the original and filtering it through his own sonic lens to create a hypnotic conclusion to this incredible new EP.
Serving up another superb showcase of his creativity and production panache, Echoes EP sees D-NITE continue to go from strength to strength with an impeccable electronic release. Sure to win over club goers and casual listeners alike, this exciting and talented producer has once again confirmed himself as a must-watch artist this year and beyond.
