Alternative pop pioneer Marxoxo is a truly trailblazing figure who stitches personal experience and dreams into a musical fabric that shimmers with authenticity and unapologetic energy. As an independent trans pinay pop artist, model and actress, Mar Omega, the artist behind the Marxoxo moniker, embodies the spirit of a pop princess with a unique edge.
Drawing inspiration from the hyperpop stylings of Charli XCX and the bold attitude of Britney Spears, Marxoxo finds her distinctive voice at the crossroads of various styles. As an active participant in the LGBTQA+ communities, Marxoxo’s work extends beyond music, creating concert nights at Club XOXO and contributing to the thriving San Fransisco music scene.
First making an entrance in 2017 with her debut single “Party Boy,” she’s since dropped a string of well-received singles, remixes and EPs, collaborating with artists such as Quisol, Eriq, Nitrah Neon, Sabby Sousa, DJ Re:Code, OHEY, lenne and Dvnots along the way. Noteworthy mentions on Tidal’s editorial playlist and OnesToWatch’s Now Watching Playlist, along with appearances at events like Sacramento Pride and San Francisco Trans Pride, further underscore Marxoxo’s impact on both the pop and alternative spheres.

Now she brings us her latest release with the new single titled “Suck U Succubus” featuring longtime friend and artist dynastic. With her new single, Marxoxo crafts a high-octane dark pop outing packed full of pounding rhythm, moody vocal leads, empowering lyricism and punk attitude.
Opened with a filtered beat and haunting lead synth line, the song comes alive with Marxoxo’s slick vocal leads delivered with punchy rhythm over the dance-focused soundscape that reaches a rock-tinged crescendo with the grit of guitar-led instrumentation. Channeling an eerie witch house aesthetic through an uptempo dance pop style, with “Suck U Succubus,” Marxoxo and dynastic lay down a driving electronic pop outing brimming with creativity, relentless energy and memorable hooks.
Paired with the single is a spooky-themed music video shot by Alex Cao, that sees Marxoxo and dynastic perform the song at night, cutting hazy shots with intense, horror-inspired scenes to reflect the dark energy of the song. The video visually recounts the story of a pink goth succubus emerging from the forest to unleash chaos on unsuspecting prey and infiltrate affluent suburbs.
We caught up with Marxoxo to find out more about her musical journey so far, her new single “Suck U Succubus (feat. dynastic)” and what she’s got lined up for the future. Check out our interview with Marxoxo below.
Hey Marxoxo, howâs things?
Hiii Plastic, Iâm pretty slay! Kinda wired but blessed. Hope youâre enjoying your holiday season đČ
Whatâs your earliest memory of making music?
My earliest memories making music have to be downloading my first DAW, LMMS, in 6th grade and just messing around on the piano roll. I grew up playing piano and the oboe in elementary and that was fun and awesome but I was really excited to just express myself. đ
Which artists do you draw most inspiration from today?
Tinashe for sureee. Without sounding like a rabid stan, sheâs single-handedly carrying the entire industry with the way she serves top cvnt in every aspect of her artistry from the music, visuals, and stage presence. And independently might I add! đ€©
How else do you find inspiration for your music?
Through experience! Songwriting has always been a form of therapy for me so my lived experiences have always informed my music. đ¶
Whatâs been your highlight of the year so far?
The âSuccubusâ music video for sureeee⊠showing it to Kim Petras⊠playing my first show in New York⊠competing in San Franciscoâs annual trans asian pageant⊠curating Grindrâs new music frigay playlist⊠hella moments! â€ïžâđ„
What do you love about the San Francisco music scene?
I loveee how much everyone loves music here and sings along to every song at every show by every artist. đ
What would you say is the perfect setting for listeners to enjoy your sound?
Ooooh this is a good question hmm⊠honestly in the car! Whether youâre singing along to Anywayz, crying it out to So Misunderstood, smoking to Magical Boy High, or hooking up to Suck U Succubus, the car is always a vibe. đ đœ
How has your own style and sound evolved since you started out?
âMarxoxoâ has always allowed me to be creative, explore, and express myself in a way that baby Mar felt never could. I mean⊠look at me! Without âMarxoxoâ I would probably be a self-hating cis dude in an office job or⊠worse! LOL đ€
Who would be your dream artist to collaborate with?
Itâs Britney bitch!! Iâm so happy for her freedom and whenever she is ready and comfortable to get back in the studio I would be so happy to be locked in her basement writing for her new album
How did you find making your new single âSuck U Succubusâ?
It was hella fun! I havenât made such an AGGRESSIVE fun song before so it was super sick to explore, play around, and try something different with my voice and persona! đ
How was it linking with Dynastic on the track?
Dyna and I have been friends literally since we were teenagers and weâve worked together before so itâs always a good time linking with Dyna
What message did you want to get across with this release?
With Suck U Succubus, I want the girls, the dolls, to feel empowered and in control of their body, their choices, and their future. For the dudes? Keep loving us, thanks.
What artist have you been listening to most recently?
Iâve been listening to a lot of Majid Jordan and Mondo Grosso lately! If you love music, youâll love them. đ¶
Whatâs the main thing you want people to get out of listening to your music?
I want people to feel free and have fun! â€ïžâđ„
Whatâs been your favourite live performance so far?
I feel like damn near every performance is my favorite! The rush, the smiles, the adrenaline⊠but I really loved performing for Lipgloss (@lipglosspartyla) because I got to slay with my dancers (@tsunomipunoni and @thaa.royal) and for Histrionixx (@histrionixxsf) during Folsom Street Fair hehe đ€
Who would be 3 artists to headline your dream festival? And where would it be?
Tinashe, Alexis Munroe, and Britney Spears at Outsidelands would be gaggy⊠I would probably explode. đ€©
Do you have any advice for a new artist wanting to follow your footsteps?
Honestly, take care of yourself and be resilient! Iâve seen many artists quit because they feel itâs not financially sustainable or they donât take rejection well, so Iâd hateee for someone inspired by me to choose to starve or withhold from life saving medication because they wanted to fund a super cvnt music video. Like itâs important to bet on yourself and invest in your work, but donât hurt yourself babes!! đ
Finally, what do you have lined up for 2024?
More music, more videos, and more Mar! I lm thinking⊠two more music videos then releasing my next project âCatboxâ in the summer!
