During the quiet hours just before dawn, Denver-based artist and producer Reed Krafft, working under the moniker Dreamers Delight, finds inspiration in its purest form. This peaceful juncture has been the incubator for Dreamers Delight’s sonic exploration since childhood with his music capturing an immersive distillation of nature, technology and ethereal entities to present a multi-sensory sonic experience.
He takes inspiration from the vast expanse of the galaxy, filtering cosmic beams into an original electronic sound stitched together via analogue synths, guitars, keys and piano. His unique sonic output has seen him rack up millions of streams and win over fans and tastemakers worldwide. First making an entrance in 2015 with his debut EP Awake, he’s since dropped multiple singles, remixes, EPs, full-length records and collaborations with artists such as Break Science, Cammie Robinson, Cloudchord, Tortuga, MAYLYN, Britt Lari, MOONZz and others.
Now part of the Nettwerk Records roster, he kicks off 2024 with a brand new album, bringing us his expansive sixteen-track LP titled The Observatory. The Observatory offers the latest snapshot of the artist’s constantly evolving sound, a celestial expedition where Dreamers Delight propels listeners through cosmic and quantum perspectives, while the title itself becomes a metaphorical space for cosmic contemplation.
Starting off with “Quantum,” rustling sonic textures and instrumental swells set an intriguing atmosphere as lofty vocal notes stretch out above. Soft piano chords ground the harmonic structure as the listener continues to slip further into the soundscape and the soporific state it induces. It’s a hypnotic piece that offers the perfect taste of Dreamers Delight’s latest sonic chapter, setting up an exciting listening experience.
The bold impact of “Observer,” driven by the intense punch of the beat and pulse of wubbing synths serves up a deconstructed, dub-inflected cut that snaps you into sharp focus. Dancing melodic elements flutter between the ruthless thump of powerful synths and smack of drums, resulting in a dynamic display of the producer’s wildly creative sonic expression.
Next up, he links with the Peruvian-born and Los Angeles based artist Britt Lari on “Keep On Shining,” with the two artists casting an enveloping spell of electrifying dance pop music. Britt’s elegant vocal performance drapes over dreamy arrangements as the patter of drums builds up to the drops where Dreamers Delight lays down an explosion of future bass and dub-inspired crunching beats and storming synths.
Other highlights on the record include songs like “Echoes” with its soothing intro of melancholic synth layers, gently rising up with the tap of hi hat to the sensational drop that contrasts the rumble of bass with intricate, stuttered top line. “Neptune” features the alluring vocal work of Jordan Corey who threads subtly moody leads over a vibrant tapestry of electronic tones peppered with the grit of processed guitar chugs to craft an anthemic moment on the LP.
Concluding with “Cosmos,” the album closes with an immersive showcase of Dreamers Delight’s all encompassing compositional talent and extraordinary command of synthesis. Crafting an emphatic sound that builds throughout, the track serves up one final gripping experience that perfectly balances delicate tones with enthralling aesthetic to deliver a spectacular finale to the artist’s incredible new record.
