Hailing from New York City, Loose Buttons is an indie quartet who’ve been winning over fans and tastemakers alike for a decade. Formed by four lifelong New Yorkers, this outfit first made their entrance with the debut EP Damage Gallery back in 2014 and have since shared multiple singles, EPs and full-length records with a growing fanbase around the world.
Fronted by Eric Nizgretsky, a first-generation Ukrainian-American with roots in Kyiv, Loose Buttons is a band that captures the energy and cultural diversity of New York. Over the past year, the band has taken on a philanthropic role, setting up benefit shows to aid those affected by the conflict in Ukraine, linking with hometown acts like Michael Imperioli, Eugene Hut, and Jonathan Toubin to use their platform to make a positive impact in their community.
With sold-out shows at iconic venues like Webster Hall and Baby’s All Right, Loose Buttons continues to make an impact on the New York music scene. Their recent shows in Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC and Los Angeles have also seen them bring their music alive on stage across the USA.
Now they bring us their first release of the year with the brand new single titled “I Saw Jon Hamm At The Beach.” The title alone sparks curiosity and the song delivers a theme that goes beyond the true story of seeing the Mad Men star by exploring the complexities of chasing perfection and the illusions that often accompany such pursuits.
Ushered in by the laid back punch of drums, an grooving indie scene takes over with warm clean guitar tones, soft bass plucks and shuffling drums all capped by Eric’s smooth vocal leads. Carrying delicate melodies and storytelling lyricism, backed by lush vocal sweeps and peppered by intricate slide guitar flourishes, “I Saw Jon Hamm At The Beach” serves up a charming and instantly memorable indie rock outing. With whispers of nostalgia delivered via the band’s delightful performance, the song sees them stride into the new year with a superb new song that showcases their stellar songwriting talent and original indie sound.
Commenting on the release, frontman Eric Nizgretsky shares, “It was one of those idyllic beach days — the sky blue, the air just right. And then, out of the corner of my eye, the man himself Jon Hamm. There he was, a perfect ‘symbol of the ideal man’ who, in reality, was just simply another beachgoer, casually playing kadima and sharing the day with his loved ones. As a huge fan of his work, seeing him out there, just being a regular dude, felt wonderfully refreshing. The whole experience debunked the ‘leading man’ facade I’ve often attributed to him. So, if you ever get the chance, I highly recommend seeing Jon Hamm at the beach — it’s a life changing experience.”
