Hailing from the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana, electronic music artist Infraction is the moniker of producer Ivan Malkov, who’s also the CEO of InAudio, a royalty free music library that’s worked with brands such as Samsung, Volks Wagen and New Balance. Taking influence from artists such as Crystal Castles and Mr Kitty, Infraction has crafted his own sonic universe of electronic music.
First unveiling his sound in 2018 with the debut five-track EP titled Infraction-Sin City, he’s since been on an astonishing creative spree that’s seen him release a staggering amount of music. Over the years he’s won over fans around the world with his music, while racking up millions of streams on Spotify alone.
He’s enjoyed a decorated music career with a seemingly endless list of accolades including by Don Diablo playing his music as well as being featured in films and TV series on CBS and Fox. His music has even made its way to the Kuala Lumpur metro and was also part of the iconic laser show at the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

Now he kicks off 2024 with a brand new release, bringing us his latest single with the track titled “My Eyes.” Serving up a deliciously dark exploration of high-tempo electronic, with “My Eyes,” Infraction takes cues from 2000s gothic synth music while blending alluring female vocals with the sharp contrast of biting synth tones and thumping drums.
Launching straight in to an energising soundscape of buzzing side-chained synths, pulsing and swelling with the shuffling beat, airy female vocals take flight to hover above the intense electronic sound. Rising with intensity, the track shimmers with powerful layers of synths, punching drums and infectious melodic leads.
In just over two minutes, Infraction delivers a potent slice of moody and danceable electronic pop music that sees him start the new year with an explosive release. It’s an epic and unforgettable new cut that puts Infraction’s composition talent and slick sound design skill on full display.
We caught up with Infraction to find out more about his musical journey so far, his new single “My Eyes” and what he’s got lined up for the future. Check out our interview with Infraction below.
Hey Infraction, how’s it going?
All good. How about you? Thanks for having me.
Great, thanks! So, what’s your earliest memory of making music?
I remember when I was 7 years old, my uncle downloaded a virtual piano on his computer and started playing it. I was shocked that music could be created on a computer.
Which artists do you draw most inspiration from?
I love Skrillex; he’s a genius. Also, old Linkin Park and Placebo are big inspirations for me.
How else do you find inspiration for your music?
I’m inspired by the atmosphere in other artists’ music. It’s cool when you can imagine different scenes in your mind while listening to a track.
What was your highlight of the year for 2023?
The biggest event for me in 2023 was Skrillex’s new album. It’s insane.
What do you love about the Ljubljana music scene?
I like that in Ljubljana, there are many authentic artists who love to experiment. There are constantly events where you can hear lots of strange and interesting ideas.
What would you say is the perfect setting for listeners to enjoy your sound?
I always try to create a specific atmosphere in my music, imagining how it would sound with visuals. So, I think my tracks are best experienced in a video setting.
How has your own style and sound evolved since you started out?
I constantly explore various styles. While I’ve always loved hard-hitting tracks, I’ve become more open to light, melodic, yet slightly dark music.
Who would be your dream artist to collaborate with?
I dream of remixing Placebo. I love those guys.
How did you find making your new single “My Eyes”?
It was awesome. I’m so glad I made this track. It took me about a month to find the right melody and blend it with the vocals.
What message did you want to get across with this release?
I just wanted to enjoy creating new music. Honestly, there’s no specific message in this track.
What artist have you been listening to most recently?
All old Prodigy tracks.
What’s the main thing you want people to get out of listening to your music?
Since most of my listeners are content creators, I want my music to inspire them to create something incredible. It’s cool to see people using your music in their videos.
What’s been your favourite live performance so far?
I love Fred again..’s sets.
Who would be 3 artists to headline your dream festival? And where would it be?
I’d like to see a big festival in Slovenia. Who would I choose? Let it be Skrillex, IC3PEAK, and Pendulum.
Do you have any advice for a new artist wanting to follow in your footsteps?
Don’t be afraid to create and release whatever you like. Perfectionism is cool, but don’t let it hold you back. Don’t undervalue yourself.
