London-based Portuguese pop sensation, Dinnit Divo is a force of resilience, empowerment and a passionate advocate for self-acceptance. Overcoming myriad challenges on his journey to stardom, Dinnit radiates strength and determination. His story is one of triumph over discrimination, homophobia and bullying and he aims to inspire others facing similar struggles to embrace their true selves.
His artistic output goes beyond music; he’s a successful writer, fashion enthusiast and actor. Embodying confidence and charisma, he stands as a natural performer. A proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, Dinnit is a staunch advocate for universal acceptance. His debut novel, Evan Hassow, is a poignant romantic drama that seeks to foster awareness, acceptance, and support for young individuals navigating life’s complexities.
As a musician, Dinnit Divo identifies himself as a pop artist, with his upcoming debut album rooted in electro pop, tinged with influences from indie, R&B and punk rock. The Spice Girls ignited his childhood dreams of becoming an artist and his musical journey first started in the city of Lisbon, where he studied at the Portuguese School of Arts, exploring life through experiences in drugs, parties and self-discovery. Despite grappling with alcohol addiction, Dinnit penned over 100 songs during this transformative period.

Determined to focus on his music career, he made the pivotal move to London, where, in the heart of Soho, he embarked on recording sessions that would create his debut single, “Lucifer.” An artist, activist and a multifaceted talent, Dinnit Divo’s debut single, “Lucifer,” marks a significant point in his musical journey while also serving as a powerful anthem of self-expression and acceptance.
Opened by the swell of a choir as Dinnit lays down a spoken word introduction before the song launches with the punch of a crunching electronic beat and snaking synth lines. Dinnit’s expressive vocals float above the grooving soundscape to thread instanty catchy lines and storytelling lyricism about falling into the pitfalls of a hedonistic lifestyle.
Erupting into a storming chorus packed full of intoxicating melodic leads, thumping rhythm and buzzy synth textures, it’s an epic electronic pop experience brimming with memorable writing and danceable energy. It’s a superb debut single that sees an exciting new artist make a compelling entrance to the scene.
We caught up with Dinnit Divo to find out more about his musical journey so far, his debut single “Lucifer” and what he’s got lined up for the future. Check out our interview with Dinnit Divo below.
Hey Dinnit, how’s things?
Hello, I am doing great! I am very excited to have this conversation/interview with you.
What’s your earliest memory of making music?
I used to write music very early, maybe around 10 or 11 years old, but going into a studio to record a song was when I first moved to London in 2012/2013.
Which artists do you draw most inspiration from?
It depends, cause if we talk about personality and what I stand for artistically I will have to say I am the 6th Spice Girl. But in terms of music I believe Lady Gaga, M.I.A., Goldfrapp, maybe Britney Spears and Marilyn Manson.
How else do you find inspiration for your music?
When I write lyrics or think about a beat or sound, the visuals comes always into my head. So I kind of create a storyline and then write about it. I am a story teller in a way. So I guess situations, places and people inspire me.Â
What do you love about the London music scene?
In London you can be anything you want to. There are no limits with art in this city. So to me the beauty of being an artist in London is exactly that. You can be yourself, you can express yourself, you can be unique.
What would you say is the perfect setting for listeners to enjoy your sound?
I am a pop artist, a dance pop artist. My crowd should be happy, accepting, passionate, unique and stylish.Â
How has your own style and sound evolved since you started out?
In a way, this is my starting out. This is my debut single and debut as an artist to the public.Â
Who would be your dream artist to collaborate with?
Oh gosh, so many. As I said before being on stage with the Spice Girls (the 5 of them) would mean the world to me but I also would like to get M.I.A to produce one of my songs or Timbaland. I have a song called ‘Jungle’ which I am open to having a rap artist in…praying for someone like Nicki Minaj or Missy Elliott.
How did you find making your new single “Lucifer”?
I had written most of my album, but I knew that the lead single was missing and I wanted to talk about alcohol and drugs on it. So a few years ago I’ve decided to spend the New Years Eve alone, and at exactly midnight I wrote “Lucifer”.
What message did you want to get across with this release?
Basically, “Lucifer” is associated to everything that’s bad, and that’s what I wanted to portray in this case. I’m talking about alcohol, drugs, irresponsible sex and other bad decisions we make while under the effect of certain substances. I wanted to comment on the darker sides of what’s going on in the modern night life scene, where everything is surrounded by “Lucifer”.
What artist have you been listening to most recently?
Green Day, they have been releasing new stuff recently and I vibe with it.
What’s the main thing you want people to get out of listening to your music?
With each song I want to open people’s minds to be able to talk about taboo subjects, I am trying to inspire people to accept themselves first and foremost. I am an artist because I believe I can give so much to my community. My art always has a positive message behind it. I want to inspire others.
What’s been your favourite live performance so far?
Lady Gaga the Monster Ball tour, Madonna The Celebration tour and Marilyn Manson Rape of the World tour.
Who would be 3 artists to headline your dream festival? And where would it be?
I think, a Festival in a sunny country, with Beyonce, M.I.A. and Dinnit Divo, of course.
Do you have any advice for a new artist wanting to follow your footsteps?
Just believe in yourself. Never give up on your dreams and age ain’t nothing but a number. As long you have the passion inside you, nothing can go wrong.
Finally, what do you have lined up for 2024?
I will drop some promotional songs and another 2 singles with music videos. I will be starting my summer tour and hopefully become the artist I always been dreaming about.
