Hey Matthew, how’s things?
Hi I’m great thank you, super busy haha
What’s your earliest memory of making music?
Oh gosh I was around 5 writing silly songs playing on the keyboard when I was little, even doing a mini tour production for my parents and aunties!
Which artists do you draw most inspiration from?
I love performers that sing dance and put on a show so I love Britney, Gaga, Michael Jackson, Madonna and Freddie Mercury from a performance view. And epic pop songwriters like Max Martin Cathy Dennis, I also love amazing new songwriters such as Maisie Peters and Dermot Kennedy
How else do you find inspiration for your music?
Usually from life and relationships and when I’m most passionate/angry/happy moments! Watching live music also gets me inspired.
What was your highlight of the year for 2023?
Performing for 20k people in Maspalomas pride festival – insane!
What do you love about the UK music scene?
How independent and fresh it is
What would you say is the perfect setting for listeners to enjoy your sound?
Clubs and dancefloors or whilst driving or anytime wanting feeling empowered
How has your own style and sound evolved since you started out?
It’s evolved a lot since I started to be honest, I think I’ve found my niche market and style which is quite polished lgbtq influenced and traditional ‘pop star’ vibes. And sound wise I’ve grown into loving dance pop productions from just pop.
Who would be your dream artist to collaborate with?
Lady Gaga hands down! She’s so talented and fun and creative.
How did you find making your new single “BIG BOY”?
Intersting as I wrote the song 3 years ago originally, and I couldn’t get the verses and production to work perfectly. I decided to revisit because I still found it exciting and catchy. So with my life talking a huge turn in 2023 it was perfect timing – message wise. So I got worked with singer songwriter and pop lyric genius, as I call him George Pelham to help polish the track up.
What message did you want to get across with this release?
I wanted my listeners to not to talk cheating lying down, feel empowered in a fun way. I think being with someone who lies drains you and this song is a way of feeling empowered and confident. “I can take the truth, but I cant take you” walk away and don’t take lies. Everyone can relate on some level I think.
What artist have you been listening to most recently?
Maisie Peters and Troye Sivan.
What’s the main thing you want people to get out of listening to your music?
Confidence and feel empowered whilst dancing and enjoying.
What’s been your favourite live performance so far?
The Maspalomas one for sure such a buzz!
Who would be 3 artists to headline your dream festival? And where would it be?
Glastonbury – Miley Cyrus, Madonna and Lady Gaga
Do you have any advice for a new artist wanting to follow your footsteps?
Make sure you are passionate 100000% as this industry is tough, but work hard and enjoy every step. It’s all a journey follow your dreams.
Finally, what do you have lined up for 2024?
Lots more releases and pride performances for sure. My second EP aptly named Big boy and hopefully my first solo mini tour. Lots more coming up I cant wait, watch this space x
