Hailing from Los Angeles, alternative outfit Love Ghost have consistently made an impact around the world with their forward thinking sound and relatable songwriting. Fronted by the talented singer Finnegan Bell, Love Ghost’s musical journey began in 2016 with the release of their debut single “Friday Afternoon.”
Since then, their sonic adventure has taken them across the globe, winning over audiences from Tokyo to London. Finnegan’s recent collaborations with leading Latin artists and producers reflect Love Ghost’s expanding influence and wide appeal, with partnerships with the likes of Dan Garcia, Ritorukai, Phyzh Eye, Jozue, Young Dupe, Blnko, Shantra, BrunOG and SAGA.
Currently based in Mexico, Love Ghost continues to build on their success, having performed live at venues like Auditorio BB, Indie Foro Rocks and Amazon’s Gamergy Festival, while their growing list of accomplishments includes notable appearances on platforms such as the German music television show Rockpalast. With an astonishing catalogue of impressive music already and coming off the back of a string of successful singles, Love Ghost now bring us their latest release with the brand new EP titled THE SPEED OF DREAMING. Recorded and produced in Mexico City, the EP features four new tracks themed on the emotional journey that our sleep sometimes leads us on and its release is being celebrated with five shows set for Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico City.
Opened by the dark chugging guitars on “BE NOT AFRAID,” Finnegan’s vocal leads enter as the arrangement builds with atmospheric sonic textures and rattling percussive patterns. Erupting into a driving pop punk anthem, the chorus explodes with charging guitars, pounding drums and vocal hooks of aggressive energy. Produced by Alex Pedrero, the track is the perfect display of Love Ghost’s storming guitar-driven sound cut with hip hop production and emo aesthetics.
“ESPEJO” slows the tempo with the twanging plucks of detuned acoustic guitar as Finnegan drapes emotive vocal lines above the stripped-back instrumentation. Clacking drums propel the energy while guest vocalist El Santi joins Love Ghost to craft an alternative outing that blends English and Spanish lyrics.
Next up, “LUNA AZUL” sees Love Ghost link with Mexican artists Helian and MONDE for a high-octane rock ride. From the intricate intro notes, a surge of pure rock energy launches capped by infectious vocal lines before switching the vibes with trap-style drums and delicate vocals. Co-produced by BrunOG and Monde, “LUNA AZUL” is an epic rollercoaster of shifting energy and instantly memorable songwriting.
The EP closes with “WALLFLOWER” where elegant acoustic guitar notes tumble among droning synth tones, jumping with bouncy rhythm as the punchy drums and moving vocal performance. Perfectly balancing graceful writing with uptempo energy, it’s a sensational conclusion to the band’s new EP as they continue their musical journey at the forefront of the global alternative scene.
