Ruti‘s journey from winning Season 7 of The Voice UK to her current status as a beloved star in the UK music scene and beyond has seen her win over countless fans and tastemakers alike. Over the last five years she’s been crafting her own unique sonic identity, resulting in highly original music that’s struck a chord with audiences around the world.
First unveiling her sound with her debut EP titled Racing Cars back in 2019, she’s since enjoyed a decorated musical journey across multiple well-received releases including her full-length record MixTea_MixTape! while clocking millions of streams of her music and earning high praise from the likes of James Blake and Tyler The Creator. Now the R&B-meets-jazz-pop singer-songwriter brings us her latest release with her new single “Don’t Make A Sound,” released via PMR Records.
Coming ahead of her upcoming EP titled Lungs and her headline show at The Victoria Dalston, with “Don’t Make A Sound,” Ruti serves up an engrossing alternative pop outing led by her sensational vocal performance and packed full of twists and turns throughout. From the intimate acoustic guitar arrangement and soft vocal sweeps in the intro, Ruti casts an enchanting soundscape of delicate melodies and tender instrumental tones.
With the entrance of the beat, the downtempo snap and rattle of percussive shots drives deep bass textures as Ruti’s voice takes flight to deliver a truly hypnotic listening experience. Dancing elegantly above the shifting arrangement, the song bends from dreamy stripped-back moments to the bold beat-driven energy of the chorus. Full of lively fluttering vocal work and wrapped up in exquisite sound design, “Don’t Make A Sound” is an incredible new offering from an artist who continues to go from strength to strength with each move.
