1Kasss links with JayTrill on debut EP

London-based newcomer 1Kasss is a brand new artist to arrive on the scene with a mission of pushing the limits in music. With his original sonic output, a natural talent and an innate ability to cut across genres and experiment with different sounds, he refuses to be boxed into any one particular style. Drawing inspiration from his own life experiences, he blends his story and emotions with catchy hooks and melodies, ready to share his compelling musical offering with the world.

Making his official artistic entrance at the start of this year, he dropped his debut single “Jell-o” with Yinks and SABZ which he’s already followed up with a string of eight well-received tracks. Continuing his prolific run of creativity, he now brings us his most ambitious project to date with the release of his debut EP titled The 1 is Silent. Linking up with producer JayTrill, with his first EP, 1Kasss serves up six tracks that perfectly capture his unique sonic vision.

Opened by “Trill,” the EP kicks off with the bounce of a punchy beat as swirling sonic textures float around 1Kasss’ smooth vocalisations to craft a spacey and energising soundscape. Filtering in his lead flow, the warbling synth tones are met with the rattle of kick and hi hat as 1Kasss lays down razor sharp rapped delivery carrying biting lyricism resulting in a gripping slice of his original hip hop sound.

“Into Me” follows with the delicate flutter of airy instrumentation before the thump of the drums ushers in a laid back rhythm capped by slick vocal lines. Cutting through the dreamy arrangement, the beat injects crisp rhythm as the artist’s mellow vocal work casts an enveloping sound that’s at once mesmeric and catchy.

On “Right,” 1Kasss is joined by Yinks to craft an intricate alternative R&B vibe where a blend of engaging melodies and gentle rapped flows ride the snap of the beat and atmospheric mix of synth textures. “Make you mine” sees 1Kasss create another display of his downtempo and forward-thinking hip hop style that perfectly balances colourful flourishes of instrumental dashes with the tight taps of percussion as his dynamic vocal performance captures an immersive sound.

With “All we do,” the uptempo patter of drums sets the energy before dropping down and rising back with 1Kasss’ bright vocal work. Instantly memorable and packed with infectious hooks, it’s another superb example of the artist’s songwriting talent and vocal flair with lyricism cut with bars in French as well as English.

Closing the EP with “Nothing was the same,” SABZ and Z£KI add their talents to 1Kasss’ own sound for one final outing of hazy beat-driven alternative hip hop to provide the perfect conclusion to the release. From start to finish, on The 1 is Silent, 1Kasss presents a thrilling musical ride that showcases his knack for creating catchy music delivered in his own unique and exciting way. As he continues to go from strength to strength with each release, 2024 is sure to be a breakout year for this new artist on the rise.
