Hailing from Congers New York State, Femi began his musical adventure at an early age, first cutting his teeth as a pianist in church before embarking on a career as a singer-songwriter and producer. After years of performing under the stage name Frank Pierce, Femi made the bold decision to transition to his birth name, a move that symbolised his mission for creating music that’s both organic and deeply personal.
Making his entrance under the Femi moniker in 2020, he signed to the UK-based label Lilly Era and dropped his debut single “Unhappy.” Since then he’s released multiple well-received singles and two EPs with 2020 and 2021 while racking up millions of spins of his music on Spotify alone.
Now, Femi is back with his first release of the year, the vibrant and upbeat single “Voicemail.” A departure from his previous work, “Voicemail” is a cheerful blend of electronic pop and alternative R&B that explores modern relationships in the age of technology, glancing into the irony of how phones, designed to bring us closer together, can sometimes create distance.
Now bringing us his first release of the year, he shares his brand new single titled “Voicemail.” Laying down an upbeat summer anthem, with his new single Femi ventures into fresh sonic territories. This latest release is a cheerful blend of pop and rap, delving into themes of relationships and the irony of how phones, designed to bring us closer, can sometimes create distance. With its infectious rhythm and catchy lyrics, it’s destined to become a staple on your summer playlist.
Brought in by the bounce of a bass synth line, the deep pulse is met by the snap of drums and Femi’s smooth vocal leads. Spinning instantly catchy lead melodies over the grooving arrangement and danceable energy, “Voicemail” serves up an infectious sound of upbeat and soulful alternative pop music that sees Femi explore a new side of his sonic vision with pure flair and musical panache.
