Nick Stefanacci is a New Jersey-born pop fusion saxophonist and music producer who’s earned a stellar reputation in the music industry, boasting a career spanning over three decades and a global stage presence alongside some of the biggest names in music. With a style that blends Maceo Parker’s funkiness with Santana’s unique sound, Nick Stefanacci has become a revered name in the global music sphere.
For over a decade he’s been winning over fans around the world with his studio releases, first sharing his original sound and virtuoso talent back in 2012 via his debut full-length record All for a Reason. Since then, he’s delivered an incredible catalogue of music across several singles, EPs and albums over the years.
Now he brings us his latest release with his brand new six-track EP titled Secrets. Having previously explored pop, funk and R&B genres, with Secrets, he ventures into the sphere of smooth jazz, with Nick joined by Mel Brown on bass and Eric Valentine on drums alongside special guest appearances on the release. With Nick handling all of the composing, arranging, producing and mastering, Secrets stands as a shining example of his evolution as an artist.
Kicking off the release with “King of Pop,” Nick takes the mic to lay his vocals down on this grooving jazz-inflected pop jam. Driven by the infectious rhythm of the beat, vibrant sax leads dance above a pulsing bass line that pays homage to the King himself via a “Billie Jean” inspired vibe in the intro before shifting to journey on an upbeat sonic adventure of sensational leads and dashes of subtle vocal bursts.
Lead single “Mirrors” serves up a sultry sound of bold, clapping drums and overlapping sax lines to deliver a exploration of shimmering modern jazz. Brimming with a powerful rhythm, popping bass guitar and expressive lead saxophone pips, the track offers an engrossing instrumental experience that demonstrates Nick Stefanacci’s incredible talent as a musician as well as his pure compositional flair.
Joined by the vocal talents of Rich Aveo on “Christmas Eve,” they craft an enchanting holiday-ready bop full of soothing vocal leads and delicate instrumental backing. With heartfelt lyricism brought to life by Rich’s soulful vocals and adorned with bright bell shakes and chimes, it’s a truly charming seasonal song that’s sure to put a smile on your face even during the summer months.
“The Masquerade” sees Nick link with pianist Carnell Harrell on a hazy soundscape that deftly balances punchy rhythms with smooth instrumental flourishes. “Fantasy” sees Nick apply his own vocals once again to create an instantly catchy jazz pop sound of memorable hooks that weave among dazzling sax solo work.
The EP finishes with title track “Secrets” to deliver one final moment of magical smooth jazz music with Nick spinning an alluring lead performance backed by a rhythmic arrangement and warm synth textures. It’s a stellar finale to an extraordinary new EP that’s sure to delight both casual listeners and seasoned musicians in equal measure.
