Originally hailing from Centreville in Virginia and now based in Los Angeles, Gavin Cole is a talented vocalist who’s been on an exciting musical adventure. Formerly the lead singer of West Virginia’s post-hardcore band The Letter 6 and a founding member of the Philadelphia-based post hardcore band Off And On Again, Gavin has an impressive track record in music that’s seen him perform on some of the most prestigious stages in the country, including Wolf Trap, The Kennedy Center and DAR Constitution Hall.
Transitioning from his post hardcore roots, Gavin has embraced a solo career that showcases his versatility and depth as a singer-songwriter in the pop music sphere. Drawing inspiration from artists such as The 1975, Fall Out Boy, Charlie Puth and Bazzi, Gavin Cole focuses on storytelling and creating a connection with listeners via relatable lyrical writing.
First stepping out as a solo artist back in 2020, he released his debut single “Let Me Down Easy” which he followed up with singles two and three in the build up to his first EP, Out My Head, last summer. Now he returns to follow up his well-received EP with the brand new single titled “FRNDS,” a song which explores the complex nature of modern relationships.
“FRNDS” is a song that explores the blurred lines between friendship and romance, distilling the emotional turmoil that accompanies such entanglements. Brought in by the taps and stabs of soft synth tones, the song bursts to life with Gavin’s soulful vocal leads that hover over the laid back shuffle of drums to spin a smooth pop sound cut with alternative R&B aesthetic.
Rising with infectiously catchy melodic leads carrying heartfelt lyricism, grooving rhythms and slick arrangement underpin his alluring vocal performance to deliver a hook-filled jam that showcases his engaging songwriting and superb performance panache. Marking his return in spectacular fashion, “FRNDS” sees this talented artist continue to go from strength to strength with another slice of his charming pop sound.
