Hailing from Mexico, MichaelBM has swiftly risen as an exciting artist in the global electronic music scene. Specialising in house, tech house and Latin house, his innovative sound has thrilled audiences worldwide through his studio releases and epic live shows.
With endorsements from icons like Carlita, Chelina Manuhutu and Solardo who’ve played MichaelBM’s music on the stages of internationally renowned festivals such as EDC, Tomorrowland and Medusa Festival, his career has gone from strength to strength. His unique blend of Latin rhythms with cutting-edge electronic beats has made him one of the most recognised emerging DJs in Mexico and Latin America, earning him a spot among the hottest artists in the house and tech house scenes.
MichaelBM’s musical adventure is also marked by his relentless touring schedule. His Taka Taka Tour, which began in April in Argentina, has taken him to some of the biggest cities in Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, Spain and France. This world tour is not just a showcase of his music but a representation of Latin culture on a global stage.

Each performance is a unique experience, with MichaelBM crafting exclusive songs tailored to the location and audience for that night. His commitment to creating unforgettable experiences shines in every show, leaving a lasting impact on audiences across continents.
His brand new single “Bonito,” is an epic showcase of his ability to blend traditional Latin sounds with modern electronic music. Collaborating with friends Twenty Six and Tech It Deep, whose label has released the track, “Bonito” perfectly distils the essence of MichaelBM’s music; infectious, rhythmic and full of life.
Flowing with lively beats and percussive shots, airy vocal elements and pulsing bass lines, “Bonito” serves up an enthralling dance music experience. Wrapped up in exquisite sound design, the track crafts an exciting and euphoric burst of colourful house filtered through a Latin lens. As he continues to work on new music and plan future tours, including a potential LATAM tour touching Costa Rica, Ecuador, Colombia, Chile, Peru and more, MichaelBM is set to continue his ascent in the electronic music world and we can’t wait to see what he’s got in store next.
We caught up with MichaelBM to find out more about his musical journey so far, his new single “Bonito” and what he’s got lined up for the future. Check out our interview with MichaelBM below.
Hey MichaelBM, how’s things?
Hey! Things are going fantastic, thank you. I’ve been keeping busy with the tour, working on new music, and connecting with fans around the world. It’s been an exhilarating ride!
What’s your earliest memory of making music?
My earliest memory of making music is probably me experimenting with my dad’s old vinyl records and trying to mix different tracks together. I was fascinated by how you could blend sounds and create something entirely new. That’s when I realised I wanted to make music my career.
Which artists do you draw most inspiration from?
I draw a lot of inspiration from a diverse group of artists. Legends like David Guetta and Solardo have been huge influences, but I also find inspiration in the fresh sounds of some other Latin genres. The energy and flavour they bring to the scene keep me motivated and inspired.
How else do you find inspiration for your music?
Inspiration comes from everywhere for me – traveling, nature, different cultures, and everyday life. Each new experience adds a unique layer to my music. I also love listening to various genres; you’d be surprised how much a salsa song or a cumbia song can influence a house track!
What’s been your highlight of the year so far?
The highlight of this year has to be playing my very first world tour. The energy, the crowd, and the whole atmosphere were out of this world in each different country. It was a dream come true to represent my country and Latinos all over the world.
Your music journey has taken you all over the world, what’s your favourite music scene you’ve worked in?
That’s a tough one because each scene has its unique charm. However, if I had to choose, I’d say the underground scene in Latin America, especially in countries like Argentina and Ecuador. The passion and enthusiasm of the crowd there are unparalleled.
What would you say is the perfect setting for listeners to enjoy your sound?
The perfect setting would be an open-air festival with a massive sound system and a vibrant, energetic crowd. But honestly, my music is also perfect for a late-night drive or a beach party at sunset. It’s all about the vibe!
How has your own style and sound evolved since you started out?
My style and sound have evolved significantly over the years. I started producing Hard Style and Dubstep, but as I’ve grown as an artist, I’ve incorporated more house & Latin influences and experimented with different elements. I’m always looking to innovate and keep my sound fresh.
Has your production process changed over the years too?
Definitely. I’ve become more efficient and experimental in the studio. I’ve learned to trust my instincts more and not overthink things. Collaborating with other artists has also opened up new creative avenues for me.
Who would be your dream artist to collaborate with?
Collaborating with Diplo would be a dream come true. His mastery and knowledge of the craft are incredible, and I feel like I could learn so much from him. Plus, our combined energy would create something truly special.
How did you find making your new single “Bonito”?
Making “Bonito” was an incredible journey. Collaborating with Twenty Six and Tech It Deep brought a lot of fresh ideas to the table. We wanted to create something that redefines Latin house, and I think we achieved that. It was a fun and rewarding process.
What message did you want to get across with this release?
With “Bonito,” we wanted to showcase the beauty and diversity of Latin house music. It’s about celebrating our cultural heritage while pushing the genre forward. The message is simple: music is universal and can bring people together across generations.
What artist have you been listening to most recently?
Recently, I’ve been listening to a lot of ANOTR. Their sound is so innovative, and they consistently push the boundaries of electronic music. It’s inspiring to see how they blend different genres and create something unique.
What’s the main thing you want people to get out of listening to your music?
I want people to feel the energy and passion that goes into every track. My goal is to create a connection and make people feel alive, whether they’re on the dance floor or listening at home. Music is about emotion, and I hope my tracks evoke strong feelings.
What’s been your favourite live performance so far?
My favourite live performance so far has to be Cach House (Argentina) and Lost Beach (Ecuador). The sheer scale of the event, the production quality, and the incredible audience made it an unforgettable experience. It’s every DJ’s dream to play there, and it lived up to all my expectations.
Who would be 3 artists to headline your dream festival? And where would it be?
My dream would definitely be to do my own festival on a beautiful beach, somewhere like Ibiza. Having big artists such as Gordo, Diplo and Cloonee.
Do you have any advice for a new artist wanting to follow your footsteps?
This is all about good music, never stop creating, believe in yourselves, don’t try to be perfect and make friends all over the world. The music industry can be tough, but if you’re passionate and persistent, you’ll find your way. Networking is crucial, so build genuine connections with other artists and industry professionals.
Finally, what do you have lined up for the rest of 2024?
The rest of 2024 is packed with exciting plans! I’m finishing up my world tour, working on new music, and collaborating with some amazing artists. We’re also planning to hit the USA and Canada soon, so stay tuned for those dates. It’s going to be an incredible year, and I can’t wait to share it with all of you!
