Producer and artist Barrett Bleeden brings to life his solo sonic vision under the club hearts moniker. Hailing from Los Angeles and spending time in New York City, his approach to music production is unique, throwing out the rule book to make music exactly as he sees it.
What started as a passion-driven project based in a desire for self-expression has grown into a distinct sound that blends indie pop, alternative and R&B with a nostalgic 80s-inspired electronic vibe. Barrett, who admits to approaching music creation with a chaotic curiosity, thrives on the unpredictability of his process. And yet, it’s this very unpredictability that makes his music so authentic.
Drawing inspiration from acts like MGMT, STRFKR, Hot Chip and Gorillaz, Barrett has forged an aesthetic that’s rich with influences yet entirely his own. First unveiling his solo sonic vision in 2021 via his debut single “Come to Light,” he then took a three year hiatus from sharing his original sound with the world.
This year, he’s returned with a new creative spark, dropping three new tracks, the latest of which is his brand new single titled “blood was on my skin,” an anthem of letting go. With themes of forgiveness and moving on, the track serves up an energetic indie dance outing that’s instantly catchy and thoroughly invigorating.
Jumping straight in with the lively roll of snapping drums, pulsing bass synths and slick vocal leads enter to cast a subtly moody scene as airy synth flutters float above. With an infectious chorus full of vibrant instrumentation and punchy rhythm capped by instantly memorable melodic leads, “blood was on my skin” is an epic cutting-edge indie jam that showcases the creativity and production flair of club hearts in spectacular fashion.
Commenting on the single, he shares, “I wanted to create a track that encapsulates the beauty of moving beyond our regrets and embracing the joy of living in the present moment. ‘blood was on my skin’ is a celebration of shameless loving, a reminder to dance without reservations and revel in the freedom that comes with letting go of the past.”
