Indie Rock from Mia Lorelei

San Diego-based singer-songwriter Mia Lorelei is quickly becoming an exciting name in the alternative indie world. Originally from the Filipino community in Southern California, Mia began writing music in her first year of high school, drawing from her personal experiences and emotions to create reflective, heartfelt tracks.

However, it wasn’t until she moved to New York that her passion for music truly ignited, with her transition to the East Coast sparking a new wave of creativity and leading her to self-produce her own original material. Introducing her sound to the world, she released her debut single “shortfall” in February last year.

Quickly followed up by sophomore track “intertwined,” she dropped her first collection of songs with her debut EP, All That’s Left is A Lifetime, the next month. Her next chapter arrived with the release of her second EP, All-Star, a project that showcased Mia’s growth as an artist via a folk and rock blend.

Now she brings us her latest release with her brand new single titled “Running Cold,” marking a departure from the softer, more intimate tones of her earlier work with an alternative pop rock sound. The track captures a sense of disillusionment and self-realisation, exploring the moment when one sees the imperfections in the people and places they once idolised.

Setting a hazy scene of lightly gritty guitars and laid back rhythm, her gentle vocals float above the mellow groove to spin delicate melodies above, forming a subtly moody, yet catchy soundscape. With intricate guitar flickers, rattling cymbals and poignant lyricism, the track flows through anthemic choruses of memorable vocal hooks to deliver an epic sound from a talented artist revealing the depths of her creativity and expansive sonic sion.
