Based in Los Angeles, MarkJoseph is a singer-songwriter and performer whose musical journey is rooted in his diverse cultural background and passion for vocal performance. Raised in Boston, Mark was deeply influenced by the Haitian gospel music his mother cherished, sparking his love for singing at an early age.
His love for music took him to Berklee College of Music, where he graduated in 2018 before moving to Los Angeles to chase his dreams in the music industry. After relocating to LA, he quickly found himself in the spotlight, joining Nick Jonas and The Jonas Brothers as a supporting vocalist. This opportunity opened doors to some of the most iconic stages across the globe, including venues such as Wembley Stadium and Dodgers Stadium and televised events like the GRAMMYs, Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show.
Mark’s vocal talents have also taken him to major festivals worldwide, including Lollapalooza India and Rock in Rio, confirming his status as an extraordinary performer. When not on tour with global acts, MarkJoseph focuses on his own music, crafting songs that reflect his unique sound. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men and Beyoncé, MarkJoseph combines 90s and early 2000s R&B with modern pop aesthetic to forge his own highly original musical output.
Having dropped a string of singles over the last six years, he now brings us his latest release with his new debut EP titled They All Fall Down, a six-track collection showcases his ability to stitch his R&B influences into an infectious pop-focused sound, all tied together by his incredible vocal flair and heartfelt songwriting. Towards the end of last month, he performed the EP live for the first time at the Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles, before being selected as a showcase artist for Mondo.NYC, an influential music and tech festival in New York.
Kicked off by lead single “Villain,” a stomping groove of staccato piano stabs and pulsing kick underpin MarkJoseph’s soulful vocal leads before gliding into an instantly catchy alternative pop anthem. “Moving” follows with tender vocals drifting above delicate piano to deliver an emotional and atmospheric slice of MarkJoseph’s elegant songwriting and charming vocals.
“Know Us” features lo-fi guitar rhythms and Mark’s bright voice that dances above the intimate arrangement, building towards a shimmering jam driven by shuffling beats and expressive vocal flutters resulting in a unique and memorable outing. With “Red Flag,” he leans into his Caribbean roots with a dancehall-inflected track full of snapping drums and vibrant instrumentation as his threads magnetic melodic lines above.
Mark’s moving songwriting shines again on “Twist” as warm acoustic guitar strums and lush vocal performance casts an enchanting sound of stripped-back pop magic. Closing the EP, “Overboard” serves up an airy display of silky vocals with gracefully overlapping layers and soft synth textures and gentle beats to craft one final moment of mesmerising pop music to conclude MarkJosephs superb debut EP.
