Chicago-based artist Bad Bubble is a name that’s quickly rising in the world of electronic and synth pop music. With a unique sound that fuses elements of new wave and alternative pop, his work is marked by emotionally-charged songwriting and impassioned performance.
His music is more than just a creative outlet, it’s the result of his profound transformation and healing, a journey that began in the shadows of tragedy. Bad Bubble’s musical path is intricately tied to his personal story, one that’s both heartbreaking and inspiring. While serving in the US Army, he faced the unimaginable loss of his daughter, a life-altering event that pushed him into a period of grief and trauma. But amidst the darkness of these experiences, music became his sanctuary.
Songwriting emerged as a form of therapy, allowing him to process his emotions and ultimately, begin the long road to healing. This cathartic process has resulted in the creation of an astonishing body of work; over 160 songs spanning sixteen albums. Embracing a vintage ethos, he records all instruments, synths and vocals himself, using an analogue mixing board to capture a warm sonic aesthetic.
He first made his mark in early 2022 with the debut single “Chinaforcesectorone” and since then, he’s continued to release a steady stream of singles, EPs and albums. Now, he’s embarking on an ambitious project by releasing his seventh album over the course of 22 weeks, with one new song arriving every two weeks. The first track to emerge from this project is “Beauty Burger,” a song that was written in December 2021 but only now sees the light of day.
Opened by Bad Bubble’s choral vocals, the arrangement jumps into a beat-driven sound as drifting synth textures and the shuffle of softly rattling percussion forms an immersive soundscape. Stitching emotive melodies via moving performance into the mesmeric sonic fabric, Bad Bubble casts an enthralling sound that’s ethereal and energising in equal measure.
With angular synth tones snaking alongside his voice and moments of dreamy musical bliss, the track lays down an engaging sound of shifting melodies and timbres, resulting in a shimmering synth pop sound that perfectly captures Bad Bubble’s trademark style. Opening a new chapter for his seventh album release, Bad Bubble shows no signs of slowing down as one of the most creatively prolific artists out there today.
