Hailing from Blackburn in northern England, Jacob Reddy has been on an exhilarating journey from a young guitar enthusiast to an indie rock sensation. Now just 18, Jacob’s accomplishments already include performing at Glastonbury, headlining sold-out shows, making appearances on prime-time TV and supporting major acts like The Lottery Winners and James Walsh of Starsailor.
Jacob has been making his mark with his unique “GritPop” sound, fusing anthemic indie rock with driving melodies and hook-focused choruses. First sharing his studio sound in 2021 with the debut single “Outside The Box,” he followed up with a string of well-received tracks in the build up to his first full-length record, Foundations (2020-2022).
Racking up over 350,000 streams on Spotify, Jacob’s music has struck a chord with fans around the world while his live performances, now featuring a full band, have become a powerful part of his musical identity. Now the indie rocker brings us his highly anticipated debut EP titled These Streets Are Ours, a five-track outing that offers the perfect run through of his original sound.
Kicked off with “Just Another Daydream,” the fuzzy tones of a lively guitar riff, pulsing basslines and crashing drums set up a bouncy indie sound before Jacob’s trademark rich voice enters to spin instantly catchy melodic leads above. Gliding with pattering drums and slick guitar touches capped by compelling vocal performance, it’s an epic indie anthem brimming with driving energy and infectious writing.
“Crazy” presents a more melancholic side of the artist’s sonic vision with storytelling lyricism brought to life by a charging rock sound. Crunchy guitars and splashing percussion collide in the chorus as Jacob’s vocals stitch gripping melodic hooks into the moody swell of instrumentation. With “Flowers,” offers reflective songwriting and grooving arrangement that bends from the intricate shuffle of the verses and the lofty punch of the pop-tinged chorus, resulting in an enthralling and memorable sound throughout.
Doing It Wrong” injects angsty pop punk vibes led by commanding vocals and gritty guitar-driven energy to cast an energising anthem packed full of Jacob Reddy’s charismatic charm and cut with lead guitar flourishes. Closing the EP with “Streets,” the atmospheric textures of soft guitar tones and emotive vocals are met with the taps of percussion to craft a moving pop rock track that gradually builds with powerful guitar tones contrasted by airy backing vocals to deliver a stunning finale to Jacob Reddy’s incredible debut EP.
