Berlin-based singer-songwriter G’emma has been crafting a unique space in the music world, blending jazz, neo-soul and hip hop influences into an elegant sound. Inspired by musical greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Erykah Badu, G’emma’s artistic output is built on connection, authenticity and lyrical reflections, offering a haven for those seeking comfort through sound.
Led by G’emma’s expressive voice, a warm, powerful instrument that soothes and dazzles, her music casts a dreamy vibe that’s at once mesmeric and catchy. G’emma sees music as a shared experience, a “multiplayer game” that thrives on collaboration. Whether performing live with her band or using a loop station to create layered, polyphonic vocal harmonies, her stage presence is truly magnetic with each performance taking audiences on a shared emotional journey.
G’emma first introduced her sound in 2020 with her debut single, “Comfort Zone” and since then, she’s followed up with a string of impressive tracks and EPs over the last four years. Now, she offers her most personal work yet with the release of her new EP titled wintersadness.
Written during Germany’s long, isolating winters, wintersadness captures the stillness and repetition of solitude. G’emma turns these quiet, often challenging moments into a meditation on finding clarity amid uncertainty, reflecting her ability to channel emotion into a sonic experience that’s both intimate and relatable.
“This EP was born out of those long nights where I stayed in bed, listening to the same album on repeat, hoping winter would somehow end,” G’emma shares. “It’s about sitting with the discomfort, the emptiness, and finding clarity within the fog.” Through her music, she transforms feelings of isolation into something unexpectedly heartwarming, creating a soundtrack for embracing stillness.
With lead single “crazy,” she explores relationship with her father, with themes of longing, frustration and eventual acceptance. “It’s about the conflict of wanting to understand someone who remains a mystery,” she explains. Layered with her stunning vocals and looping techniques, “crazy” mirrors the cyclical nature of these emotions, resulting in a song that offers catharsis for both artist and listener, distilling the emotional impact that she’s become known for. Across the four tracks on, wintersadness, she puts her soulful voice and poignant lyricism on full display, offering a must-listen for those who seek music that moves both heart and mind.
