French artist Johsef, the alias of creative Therry, is a trained photographer who once thrived in a prestigious Parisian photo studio, before pursuing an entirely different path. Trading his lens for soundboards, he returned to his original passion, moving back in with his parents to teach himself beatmaking and music production.
In 2010, Johsef caught the attention of Jean Charles Carré, the longtime partner of global music icon David Guetta. This mentorship propelled him into the limelight of the Francophone music scene as part of the duo LNT Musik, which he formed with Ludovic Carquet. Over the next decade, LNT Musik collaborated with some of the biggest names in the scene, including Soprano, Zaho, MHD, Tal and even Céline Dion in Las Vegas. Despite this success, Therry found himself yearning for a fresh start and a chance to explore his own voice and vision.
This desire led to the birth of Johsef, a new artistic identity inspired by the Hebrew meaning of his name: “he will increase.” With this reinvention came a new sound, blending his past experiences with a daring, experimental edge. Johsefâs music aims to capture themes of memory and emotion, drawing parallels to his background in photography.
Johsef introduced his vision to the world this September with âPolaroid,â his debut single under his new moniker. Now he’s back with the follow up, bringing us his brand new sophomore single titled “All Da Same,” an exploration of industrial pop, blending mechanical rhythms with atmospheric melodies to craft a trip hop inspired soundscape.
Revolving around ideas of individuality and shared humanity, Johsefâs lyrics encourage reflection, celebrating the differences that paradoxically connect us all. Set up by delicate synth textures and the rise of shuffling drums, dark piano chords and hushed vocals enter to cast a slick groove wrapped in a hazy fabric.
Flowing with alluring melodic stretches, the track builds with bold bass synth lines and punching beats to craft an energising sound of moody alternative pop. Going from strength to strength with his second outing, Johsef continues to impress on his exciting new musical chapter.
